Op before you call those people scammers you need to look at yourself in the mirror and ask what type of person agrees to such shady deals in the first place.

You are greedy and you just proved that under the right circumstance you are willing to short change your customers for more profit. If i had a business to do, you will be my last option. You were even willing to dabble into an area you have no business in just because of ojukokoro. you are a dishonest greedy fellow.

bro, you never enter scam yet! I fell for one of such some 3 months ago. I was already borrowing money to procure a bundle of unbelievably discounted warehouse goods. But the red flag was that I had to first make a deposit, to a faceless business owner whose office I couldn't even reach. I was almost blinded by the profit I was going to make from the products if I bought and resold. I was going to be at least 100k richer, in less than 48hrs. In fact, I had secured 4 interested buyers to resell the product to, until the scammer persuaded me to make a blind deposit before I can have the goods delivered to me.

It's a long read with lots of grammatical errors, please bear with me.

8:30am, a number called my business line saying his name was Mr Wale that he knows me and wants to introduce me to a church member who wants to make an inquiry about make up, and he asks if I was something something touch that he couldn't remember the name again, truly my company's name has touch on it. So he asked if I had a pen and paper to take down the woman's number that I should call her immediately, then get back to him.

So I called the said woman, she was all prayerful thanking me, praising me and I was awed.

She said the company where she works are in need of a makeup artist, that they are celebrating their 25th anniversary and they want to do a beauty pageant.

the woman who was doing it for them before is sick and she's indisposed at the moment, so Mr Wale recommended me and the way he spoke of me she knew I'll be very good with the job

She also wants me and her to do a back door deal, that I should tell the boss of the company that each contestants makeup will cost nothing less than 50k each and when the boss agrees to it that we'll both share it 70% to me and 30% to her, so I agreed.

She told me to send the complete name of my company and it's address that she's drafting a letter to send to her boss and she'll call me back in a minute.

She called five minutes later, saying her boss has agreed to meet me, that I should dressed cooperate and classy and should wait for his call to schedule a meeting.

Now the scam part.
She said there was a deal she and the other woman(the sick woman that does their makeup before) usually do, that there's a cleaning agent they use for the walkway, so as the contestants not to fall on stage and when the boss ask of this product I should tell him the price is 140k the change on it, we'll both share it and she's going to send the number of the supplier to me so as to discuss more on it.

I called the number his name was pastor peter, he said the product per gallon is 100k and that was the final price, so I thought to myself since there's 40k on top, then the price is fair.

I called Mrs bola to inform her of my discussion with the supplier, she said its a fair price too and that i should await the call of her boss.

Five minutes went to twenty minutes to almost an hour no call from her boss, so I called her to let her know I've not seen her bosses call, she told me to hold on that she'll call him now maybe he's in a meeting. A minute later he called, we talked about the things that will be needed for the contestants to make them glow and more beautiful on that day, to my surprise he agreed on the price.

The first red flag.
He brought up the issue of the cleaning agent and to be sincere I wasn't really interested in that aspect of the job but since she wanted me to do it, I had to oblige her.

He said my sister(mrs bola) talked about the cleaning agent and she's giving him the guarantee that I was supplying the best and it's made in Germany, that when I'm coming to his office I should bring a sample that he will like to see it for him self.

I called Mrs bola, told her everything we discussed. she advised I call the supplier and I should try to work a deal with him. I called the supplier to please give me a sample that I promise we'll be buying 30 gallons of it, he said he can't that Nigerians are not to be trusted, I told him I understand that he should please work out something for me. He said i should call him in the next five minutes that he wants talk to his boss.

I called him five minutes later, he said his boss has agreed in the condition that I deposit half the money, if my client doesn't like it my money will still be refunded to me. I called Mrs bola, informed her about the discussion the supplier and I had, she said I was smart and that I was going to go places with my level of intelligence and in fact the job is mine, I was so happy and fulfilled.

I called the supplier and we agreed to meet at palmgroove junction and I was going to pay him 50k.
On my way to palmgroove, I boarded a bus. The bus wasn't filled up so I sat and waited, Mrs bola called few minutes later to know how far with things I told her I was already on my way in fact I am in the bus as I'm talking to her, she said I should let her know immediately I'm with the product.

Few minutes, the bus moved I felt a cold wind blew me and I realized my self and started thinking about the whole thing. I alighted from the bus with the excuse that I forgot something at home.

47minutes later Mrs bola kept calling me, asking how far I told her I was there, that I've not seen the supplier.

She called and called and called, but I kept telling them I was there and I didn't not see them.
Maybe they realized I knew they were scammers, but they've stopped calling me, not after I made sure I wasted their own time and airtime.

SO NIGERIAN BEAUTY ARTIST, PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND BEWARE OF SCAMMERS.
IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, ITS A SCAM.

The scammers are very dumb, they went through all these stress just to dupe one of 50k. the Hustle is indeed real. But OP, if they had duped you I wouldn't have been sorry for you especially because you wanted to cut corner all through the whole transaction. Anyways, I hope you learnt from the grace you just got. I hope others will learn that finding shortcuts to life and businesses will only end in tears.

Exactly. This is the problem with Nigerians. In his mind now, he's an innocent fellow who almost fell for a scam. To him, what he agreed with the lady to do to the lady's boss is not scam.

Disgusting fellows. Just like these property agents looking for ways to shortchange property owners and buyers all the time. I know one who will always add money to what the owner demands and front someone as the person bringing the buyer. The so-called buyer's agent will request that the owner adds his cut on top his asking price. A 500k ppty will be sold for 700k or 10mil ppty will be sold for 12mil. He pockets the extra and still collects his agency fees from both the buyer and the seller.

Even in house rent the same. From as little as a 200k rent, he will make nothing less than 150k. To rent a house in Lagos, you pay almost double of the house rent because of these assistant deputy landlords. To them, what they are doing is not scam.

Nigeria is hopeless seriously. Even the unborn are rogues!

This an old scam model. Usually they used oil company equipment as the object of scam but I can see they have diversified.

One interesting thing I've discovered is, one of the people involved in the scam and usually the supplier always has a religious title (Pastor, Evangelist, Deacon, etc.). The moment man no longer has the fear for God, he is a goner.

"Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions." (Ecclesiastes 7:29)

The op was lucky, God decided to show her mercy else she would have been caught in it, considering how smoothly it sounded.

I reiterate that no honest person can fall victim to this kind of scam. The moment backyard deals came into the picture, the person would have known this is not a deal for me.

Someone who genuinely wants to do business with you will not be sending you upndan message to make calls. Also someone you have never met and the person is already talking how to add money and share with you is not a good person.

These were the major red flags for me. Thank God you didnt fall for it

I have had this experience before. I used to work as Technical Assistant to a Vice President of Corn. That week, I had just returned from COREN's annual conference where I served as rapporteur. About 2 days after I returned to Lagos, call came in. He said he was blah blah blah from Airtel, and was asking how the COREN conference went, that he wanted to see me again. He painted the picture that we met during the conference. He asked 'Oga nko'?. Knew already.

So he said he wanted to do a deal and asked if I was willing to do the deal. Of course I am. He said there is an Airtel installation that they needed some special batteries. He said only one person had the batteries in the whole of Africa and the person lives around Ayobo. Believing that I am a butty, not knowing that it is all packaging. I know the area he was talking about, my mum owns a house there, I lived there for about 2 years and when I live somewhere, I make it a point of duty to know all the nooks and crannies. He said I should call the supplier, confirm the price and put margin on it for the both of us. I am talking of profits of 10s of millions of dollars..... All within an hour.
Well, he said an Alhaji was flying into Naija with some mad cash in dollars, that I should call the Alhaji and confirm. I called Alhaji and Alhaji asked if I really had the batteries, that he is willing to pay any amount. Note that Alhaji was bringing in millions of dollars in cash and was airborne as at when I was speaking with him on his mobile phone. Please forget Nigeria's anti money laundering law. Lol. Also forget that you can't / shouldn't receive phone calls in the air. Well, I called supplier and he said I should bring some money to pick sample. About 500k. So I was supposed to meet the supplier, pay for the sample then take it to Alhaji at the airport who will then hand over millions of dollars to me.

When Alhaji called me that he has landed, with the millions of dollars to be handed over to me, I barred my incoming calls so all three idiots can't reach me and I started calling all of them asking for where they were. It took a while for them to realize I was playing with them, them begin curse me.

Well, that was how I missed been a billionaire in my early twenties. I should have been richer than Dangote, OteDollar, Whizkid and Davido all put together.
