Old age is really affecting Sir Bode

So how about Coca Cola, Guinness, Budweiser spending millions if not billions of dollars on adverts world wide?

Politics is totally different from Business . There are so many potentials and opportunities in advertising with international media

30 seconds advert on CNN should be from $5,000-$8,000 depends on the Prime Time..

Modified:
To those who quoted and who might intend to quote, are you guys saying a Chinese man coming to Nigeria for the first time and saw Zenith bank adverts on CNN wont first check the banks out upon reaching Nigeria?

Or probably Dangote only limited his business partnership strictly to Only Nigerians or perhaps Africa.

Is like questioning a Nigerian why buying Facebook likes.. Btw 100k likes on Facebook should cost like $5,000.

This is business and not meant for local business man that cant afford it

Btw, what's the total coverage of all the Nigeria media?
.

Modify and keep on modifying fact is you aren't making SENSE

Nobody has answered the man's question:

“What has Globacom advert got to do with CNN that is being shown all over the world? Are they using Glo network in Europe or South America?”
The share of the market in those Africa countries using Glo network is what matters to Glo.

In marketing term, we called it "market share" no matter how small. And don't forget CNN is not only viewed in Europe and South America like you pointed out already that CNN is viewed over the world

Fully supported. Its ego trip and nothing more. Glo has tgmhe worst data services in Nigeria yet it has the highest adverts on CNN
That Glo is just the worst of them all with a stupid, non-innovative and wasteful management. As an indigenous company, they could have been the ones dominating our Telecoms and the likes of Mtn owned by the Xenophobic SAns would have since closed shop in this country, only if they got their acts together- improving their network connection and data services. Instead, they'd rather throw money away on useless adverts on foreign media like CNN and gifting fake celebs. What a shame!!

That's incorrect. Few Nigerians watch CNN, BBC and other foreign news channels. Those that watch local news channels are much bigger joor.

But key business leaders and decision makers watch CNN. They influence millions with their decisions.

Go to any hotel in Nigeria (3-star and above) and corporate offices and see the channel on show.

no he is silly and ignorant. How many Europeans advert do you see on CNN being broadcasted in Nigeria. It’s simple, those adverts are peculiar to each country. Same CNN news but different advertisement- particular to each country and company interested. The idea is to reach bigger audience.

1) This is not the 1980s when Nigerian companies only serviced Nigerians. These companies have branches across Africa and advertising on CNN is a cost effective way of reaching customers in many countries at once. Dangote is even working towards being listed on the London Stock Exchange and this is a great way to let potential investors know about the company and to attract investors.

2) Furthermore, companies do everything that they can to reach as many customers as possible. One of the goals of advertising is to create brand awareness, that is, to make potential customers aware of your brand and to make them have a good feeling about your brand. Nigerians are not the only people in Nigeria. Many foreigners come to Nigeria to do business, to visit friends, etc. It is an advantage if these people already know about your brand and have a good feeling about your brand before they get here.

3) It is not government's place to make these decisions for private companies. The companies will make these decisions based on their best interest, i.e. the bottom line. Obviously the companies believe that these adverts will help bring in more revenue and that's why they do it.

Mental slavery is the worst form of slavery. Most Nigerians believe the whiteman poop could be nutritious. That's what's happening to zenith, Glo and dangote. If naija pikin nor go propose for dubai, e nor complete, even new yam nai some elders go chop for germany collect slap. Naija products are the major local products i see on international media.

Who watches local channels? Even old men and women in the villages no longer have interest in NTA, AIT or others. They depend on foreign broadcast for reliable news about Nigeria. That's how bad it has become.

No be where eye dey look you go display your goods? I bet you can't reach up to 20,000 Nigerians if you advertise on NTA or AIT.
The last paragraph is not true. We have channels and tvc to advertise products since NTA is becoming obsolete in the eyes of the viewer

What a lot of people don't know here is that CNN has different streams they give people for which is based on your geographical location which means that the CNN I am watching on DSTV or Startimes is not exactly the same thing beign watched in Washiton DC. So therefore the programmes and adverts you watch on CNN are targeted towards Africa which is where this companies mostly operate

Not true about the adverts I see.

I have seen Zenith Bank adverts on CNN in USA, Canada, UK.

IGNORANCE:
The version of CNN commercials you watch on dstv is different from the one they watch in Europe, America and other parts of the world. So the medium was simply chosen to reach an African audience. CNN also broadcast in other languages other than English and show regional commercials which you do not see because its not for you.
The world is not so global after all.
Didn't you see where he said that some persons in Europe see such advertisement

Bode George talking nonsense as usual. If the companies are not benefiting anything from the adverts, they won’t be spending so much money on it.
Re: CNN Adverts: FG Must Punish Dangote, Zenithbank, Globacom - Bode George by louis1995: 9:18am On Oct 11, 2019
Hmmm I don't agree

The companies (Dangote, Globacom, Zenith and others) are all private firms, even if the public has a stake in them. Their actions are undertaken to maximize profit as best as they can, and if they feel advertising on a major platform like CNN will give them that edge, then you can't tell them otherwise.

These companies have also gone global, their markets reach far and wide as diverse stakeholders could potentially patronize their products or services. Why limit their opportunities, when they may wish to break into a new market in another country and CNN can give them that publicity.

Also I assume their business analysts did a good job to justify the need through a proper business case to advertise on the CNN platform considering the high overhead cost, and for them to continue to advertise, they may be seeing the benefits already or a positive trend at the very least....my opinion though.

That's why Bode George keeps failing in every endeavour; hes so unintelligent and his understand of issues is somewhat hollow. First, what is his business about a company's finances, or are they complaining about the hefty sums they're spending on the ads? Second, the end justifies the means; Glo, Zenith and Dangote are among the most profitable business organizations in Nigeria as we speak. Today, Glo has overtaken MTN to become the network with highest subscribers. Zenith is among the top 3 strongest banks in nigeria. Do I need to say anything about Dangote's dominance in Africa? If they're doing well business wise, perhaps they're doing something others still aren't doing.
Third, Dangote is no longer a Nigeria brand, its fast becoming an Africa brand with branches all across Africa; Globacom has offices in about 16 African countries, Zenith is not just in Nigeria, its banks are across Africa and Europe as well. So, they should keep advertising on NTA alone?!! Senility is seriously affecting Mr Bode George!!

The people that are criticising the adverts are doing so based on sentiments and emotions, while the companies made the adverts based on their business calculations, not on sentiments.
