Based on developmental milestones, at 18months your child should have at least started saying their 1 syllabic words. Yes, sometimes it is just a delay and it will eventually come, but what I tell parents is, why take that chance? What if there is a problem? There is no harm confirming.

What did you do to help boost his speech?

It took my brother four years to start stringing more than 3 words together.

Read to him, play with him, encourage him but don't push too hard. 18 months is still young. I hope he started speaking soon and if he doesn't it won't hurt to see a speech therapist.

Kindly assist. I have an 18months old child (1year 6months) but he is yet to talk.

He only makes sounds and gesticulates. He also hum when baby sings are being played or atleast tries to blab along but that’s all.

He has not said any real thing like daddy or mummy or anything at all.

I have met children who are not up to 1yr or even 1yr and some months already talking. This is getting me worried. Should I be worried
