Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by Arysexy(m): 11:14pm On Nov 13, 2010 |
Nonsense! y not name Awolowo in Edo, Delta etc after all they were part of the old west. He can only be named in yoriba states. Ask me why? Because he is the commander in chief of tribalism in Nigeria. Some in.sane peeps r asking for awolowo to b named after Akanu Ibiam airport Enugu, not only that, also Onitsha main market should be called Awolowo main market onitsha. U can name every thing, even danfo bus, amala joints, motor parks after ur god. Who cares! but i bet u Awolowo cannot be named after any edifice outside Yoruba land, the reason is obvious. Get that or get lost! |

Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by DapoBear(m): 12:52am On Nov 14, 2010 |
Arysexy: But you say this as an insult, when it is truly not. By the time my life ends, I personally will be more proud to have something named after me in Yorubaland than elsewhere in Nigeria, or even elsewhere in the world. There is something very special about being loved in the land of your ancestors. I dunno man, that is just the way I think. Give me honor in my homeland over honor elsewhere in the world. |

An interesting perspective. Not knowledgeable enough to comment on his motivations one way or another, but I'd like to think them honorable. |

fstranger: Recently turned 25. . . getting kinda old now, lol. But on a serious note, I've felt this way since I was a little kid. |
Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by Eziachi: 5:07am On Nov 14, 2010 |
alj harem: Have you any sense of history? Chief Awolowo deserve nothing negative or positive from Nigeria because he is an unadulterated Yoruba tribal leader, not a Nigerian leader and never pretend to be one, just like our Ikemba. So let the dead honour their dead. Zik, Murtala, Akintola, Balewa, Ironsi, those are few Nigerian leaders, not Awo, Ikemba, Ahmadu Bellos of this world. By the way, do they still play sports at liberty stadium? God know the state of the edifice now, if much bigger and better Surulere is now hosting all sorts of rodents. I rather be named after my house than a possible dilapidated 50 years old run rown edifice, that will collapse in a twinkle of an eye. |
Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by Eziachi: 5:30am On Nov 14, 2010 |
jason12345: Maybe your Itshekiri father forgot to tell you that your grandfather and those Igbos, Yorubas etc you are quoting pays their taxes in Lagos and it was their money from their taxes that was used in whatever you think they benefitted from, not from Chief Awolowos pocket or generosity. Mind you chief Awo was paid handseomely for doing his works, as far as I know his parents were poor peasants before he came into public life, so public service rewarded him immensely. Now who is the most beneficiary? Your grandparents or him? |
Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by deols(f): 9:57am On Nov 14, 2010 |
Eziachi: although am not a fan of Awo, i think ur argument is a dumb one. Awo worked his way up the political ladder and his intellectualism brought about all the development u'r talking about. . .and that makes him deserving of the honours bestowed on him. |
Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by deols(f): 10:01am On Nov 14, 2010 |
Quote from: Dede1 on Yesterday at 08:11:49 PM Of course, he was front and center as a local tribal bigot. By the way, Awo was my favorite political operative of his era. No ooo, i think Awo was a bigger tribalist than M.K.O |
Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by matazzmagi(m): 2:58pm On Nov 14, 2010 |
awolowo was a devil and still is,plan to stave igbos to death was a crime agains humanity,he should be prosecuted for war crime simlpe that is no point insulting me on this forum we are in democracy and respect for human life,to yorubas obafemi awolowo might be a great leader but before GOD he was a devil and opportunist who used his hatred towards igbos to expose his true ugly self a selfish biggot!! |
Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by seanet02: 3:15pm On Nov 14, 2010 |
@matamazi, you are simply a stupid idiot. So you are God's second in command, that gives you the opportunity to know that before God AWOLOWO is devil incarnate, a real fool you are. So you idiot expect him to fold his arms when you blood thirty ibos want to overrun his people even when they are not at war with you or what are you doing in ore when all you want is biafra? You are simply mad. |

Re: Jonathan Renames Liberty Stadium After Awolowo by aljharem(m): 3:33pm On Nov 14, 2010 |
