how do you know he is taking his drugs to completion?
has he checked his environment? something around him continues to expose him to thypoid

Some people carry typhoid infection chronically and reinfect themselves though not so quickly after antibiotic treatment.

That's one of the possible complications for such prolonged untreated ?typhoid.
