Nigerians Blast Abba Kyari And Buhari For Signing Bill In London by Arubajagz: 12:48pm On Nov 05, 2019 |
As the new week got off to a start, the media space was lit up by the news that a new bill has been signed by President Buhari. He gave executive assent to the bill which amends the Deep Offshore (and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract) Act. Ordinarily, this should be good news but the logistics of getting this bill signed came at a very steep cost estimated at $140,000 for chartered jet, minus all other protocol and lodging costs. They went on a no holds barred onslaught on a president that has always talked about cutting costs of governance. Trust our Naija Twitter to go on a trolling spree as many went online to bare their minds and express dismay at the wasteful action in many creative ways. Expect a new social media meme from this picture that is fast becoming the most viewed image on Google in the past 24 hours. The picture shows Abba Kyari, unusually in suit and tie, bowing beside the president while he reads the bill that could have been faxed or sent by the most secure air courier services. Someone said they could have just sent an email to save us that 140k USD. After all, technology is supposed to make life easier for everybody, maybe not for Abba Kyari & Buhari. The exigencies of government sometimes warrant that drastic measures be taken to subvert an even major economic fallout. $140k might seem a lot but from the newly passed bill, Nigeria would surely be benefitting a great deal more. |

Even if President Buhari wears shoes without socks Nigerians will still read meaning to it. For crying out Abba Kyari is Buhari's Chief of Staff. His position requires he sees the president at any time the president please. The man is only doing his job abeg |

Re: Nigerians Blast Abba Kyari And Buhari For Signing Bill In London by SarkinYarki: 1:05pm On Nov 05, 2019 |
ojokolax: That's not the point sir , the point is Buhari shouldn't be signing National bills on foriegn soil when on private visit when we have a seating VP ..Buhari is on a two weeks private break and refused to handover to the VP as the Constitution states |

SarkinYarki: Pls how is this humiliating to the VP. So the VP should sign the bill while the president is still active. Or you do you think the office of the VP is a file carrying office? Abeg park well |

We should look on the bright side of the signed bill. We should know that there is urgency here instead of the criticism of the amount spent. Its true he promised to cut down expenditure but lets look into the impact of the bill. |

SarkinYarki: Do you even know the meaning of the what you just typed. The VP is not the President. He can only sign when the President transfers power to him to do so. Mind you, the Vice President can only act as President if the President is out of the country for 21days or more. As it stands the President will only be out for 15days. Section 143, 144, 145 and 146 of the 1999 constitution as amended should guide you on this. |

Buhari is now a big boy jetting round the globe and flexing nonstop on taxpayers money. He must've replaced his default 10 Naira sachet milo with the best premium UK wine. Kai, the local rice I chop yesterday as a result of this border closure scatter all my teeth... Okare buhari
