The strategy worked out perfectly - from having few fans to becoming the cynosure of all eyes.
All the fights of AJ in the ring, most people only hear about them days after the fights.
Months ago, before his first fight with the fat Sumo boy, no one cared but at this point in time, the rematch is one of the hottest topic in the whole wide world right now.
Fixed game gone good. The fight with the fat Sumo dude is the biggest thing to have happened to AJ in his whole career. There would be a lot of cash-outs. Stories can really change overnight when the strategy is high AF.

You are very ignorant and arrogant in your ignorance.

Even before Joshua fought Ruiz the first time, he has always been the most marketable fighter in the whole world. He easily filled up the arena. Maybe many Nigerians or Nairalanders don't always know because they would rather follow football on a normal day, but only say what you know.

As for match fixing, why would an elite boxer with a 21-0 perfect record throw it away because he wants to fill an arena which he has always done so easily in the past even on a 14-0 record?

You can talk about journeymen receiving bribes to lose, but an elite boxer with 3 major belts throwing them away because of what? If at all, an elite boxer like Joshua would rather bribe to win. Records are everything in boxing. Everyone wants to finish their career unbeaten.

Use your head!!!

If elite coaches like Pep and Klopps are ever caught fixing matches, it would certainly be to win matches, not to lose. Only hungry coaches would receive bribes to lose a match when records are even more important than money. Money finishes, but records remain with you even after you die.

Mayweather has retired for sometime now, but people are still talking about his unbeaten records. If Joshua wanted to lose on purpose, he would have collected the over 50 million dollars to fight Deontay Wilder. At least, losing to Deontay Wilder will not be as shameful as getting knocked down 4 times against Andy Ruiz.

The truth is: that day wasn't Joshua's day. Ruiz beat him black and blue. He was knocked down 4 good times, and had his ass handed to him.

Maybe you have become used to lack of honor due to living in Nigeria. But, don't project your thoughts on Joshua. He is not your everyday boxer. He had three belts, he had pride, and was calling the shots in the heavyweight division. He will never throw away those belts for anything. I know a man who has pride in how far he has come when I see that man. And Joshua is that man.

No elite boxer will collect bribe to lose, not especially to someone largely unknown. This is like Wilder collecting bribe to lose to Chisora (although, Ruiz is obviously far better than Chisora).

LESSON

dont joke with what you have , opportunities or people .
because if you lose them , you will have to work extra hard to get them back

we dont value things we have now until we lose them

AJ toyed and played with his belts and now he has seen that without those belts he is nothing , he is now in a career defining bout and fight , if he loses this fight, he is gone .
All the pressure is on him to win , andy ruiz is under no pressure at all, he has achieved what no Mexican has ever achieved and he has also made more money than he ever expected to , he can even afford to dance round the rings , the onus and pressure is all on joshua .
HE SIMPLY HAS TO WIN . there is no rematch or 3 rd chance after this

Even if he loses, it would not mean he is gone. Everything would depend on the man he is on the inside.

Lennox Lewis lost to two underdogs in his career and never gave up fighting.

But will Joshua be able to bear another loss to Andy Ruiz without totally breaking down and throwing in the towel? Everything would depend on the kind of man he is. If he is a man who can handle losses very well, all good. But if he is a man who would rather cry and give up, well...

Like you wrote, he has put himself under serious pressure by getting a rematch too quickly. Now, everyone is expecting him to perform the same feat that Lewis did when he came back after a loss to reclaim his belts. They want him to be like one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. That is a lot of pressure on Joshua. I don't envy him at all.

Andy Ruiz has nothing to lose. He already has a record that many Mexican boxers would envy till they go into their graves.

cheesy

You people can be ridiculous.

Joshua is a man. He can lose. Don't make a big deal out of his loss. Don't start making up conspiracy theories about why he lost. He lost because he went up against the better man on fight night.

Mohammed Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, the Klitschko brothers all have losses on their records.

Only a few boxers (about 13) ever retired with perfect records.
Re: Anthony Joshua Trains Hard, Flaunts Amazing Physique Ahead Of Andy Ruiz Rematch by onatisi(m): 10:05am On Nov 28, 2019
getting a rematch instantly was the best decision , who else is there for him to fight ?he has fought virtually all the top contenders and won , he beat dillian, parker, kilitkov, and all others , the only person remaining for him to beat at his level is deontay , and he knows that if he doesn't get the rematch , deontay and ruiz are both on the same network (fox) ,they would have organized a unified fight between wilder and deontay and that will put him in a very bad position because he will no longer be a mandatory challenger , so getting the rematch before ruiz fight anyone else is that best .

Boxing does not work the way you have put it.

There are four major belts in boxing and mandatories are determined by ranks and sometimes politics.

Joshua is highly ranked across all the four boxing federations, and he would have been a mandatory however you looked at it. He wouldn't have needed to rematch Ruiz to be a mandatory to Wilder. After all, even Whyte who has no belt should have been a mandatory to Wilder if not for WBC politics.

there was a plan by wilder and the rest to freeze him out , and dont forget that he isnt an american , the wbc is belt is held by deontay and they ard wbc is doing everything possible to make him safe , even just recently then gave all their champs franchise champion , the only leverage for joshua that will make him relevant was to get a rematch and get his belt back , dont forget we are talking about 3 belts now , not just one . he had 3 belts and he toyed with it , if he didnt exercise the rematch clause instantly after the match , wildere would have organized a unification bout with ruiz and that would have been the end for joshua at least for sometime

Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has a big task in front of him as he tries to recapture his world title belts from Andy Ruiz later this year, but he still knows that should he win he’ll be right back in the mix for some of the biggest fights to make in boxing — against Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

But for now Fury is slated to take on little-known Otto Wallin in his next outing while Wilder looks to rematch Luis Ortiz. It’s essentially been confirmed that Wilder and Fury will then rematch one another should they both get through these interim fights clean. Joshua, however, isn’t exactly impressed by either man’s level of chosen competition.

Forget it, bro. There can never be a unification bout now or even in 2020.

First of all, Wilder has a rematch with Fury on February next year. This cancels out any mandatory obligations from WBC. So, as it is, Wilder can't fight any WBC mandatory until after February. Should the rematch with Fury fall through, the next ranked WBC mandatory would fight Wilder.

Supposing Andy Ruiz does not fight Joshua in December, he has the belts of 3 federations, each federation has a list of mandatories. So, it is just impossible for the WBC to try and play politics where 3 other federations are concerned.

In my opinion, Joshua should have had something like a comeback fight or two to get back his confidence and take off pressure. He can fight two times, one in December and maybe in February in the undercard of Wilder-Fury 2. By March or April, he should be ready for Ruiz.

Wilder cannot arrange a unification fight between June 2019 and April 2020.

I understand that a man with belts has more chance to unify the heavyweight division.

But then, it doesn't mean that beating Ruiz in December would make the unification fight close. It would only mean that Joshua would be back in the mix.

I still insist that he shouldn't have rushed it.

Mark my words: There will not be a unification fight in 2020.

If Joshua beats Andy Ruiz, he will most certainly fight 2 times in 2020 against mandatories. Perhaps, we may have a Joshua vs Whyte 2 or Joshua vs Chisora or Joshua vs Pulev. But we will never have a Joshua vs Wilder/Fury in 2020.

yes , we seem to be on the same page , my own assertion is that getting the belt back will give him a better standing and big fights which also means big pay. even though , usyk is the wba mandatory now and who ever wins the aj vs ruiz fight will have to fight usyk fight before any other fight

The real fights come next year Fury Vs Wilder followed by a unification bout.
Wilder has a weak point in stamina and if an opponent can stand his right jab like Fury did last time, we may just see an overthrow. Till date though, I doubt Joshua can beat any of the 2 aforementioned men.

I believe Joshua can beat Wilder.

Wilder is a poorer fighter than Joshua. The only thing Wilder has going on for him is his right hand which is likened to a dynamite.

Wilder is that boxer who loses every round until he manages to land a clean shot, and ends the match.

Luiz Ortiz whooped his ass all over the ring until the old man got tired and dropped his guard.

In their rematch, Ortiz whooped his ass again until he got tired and dropped his guard.

The same thing played out in his match against Fury. Getting knocked around like a thief until he was able to land clean shots flush on Fury.

However, another credit that must be given to Wilder is his ability to take a punch. Getting whooped every round and yet never getting knocked down is a wonder. He doesn't appear to have a granite chin, but he seems to be a real fighter. The sort that never gives up easily no matter the amount of punishment he gets.

But I believe that AJ can beat him. Fury already whooped his ass but the judges saved him using his two knockdowns to neutralize Fury's dominance in the entire match.

Wilder does have a granite chin. That's what taking several punches on your feet means. He also has a resilient heart and a he's very patient. And the same way Ortiz got tired is the exact same way Joshua would get tired. AJ has stamina issues. Goan watch AJ Ruiz round 6. He was very tired. Goan watch AJ Klistchko round 6. Same thing.

Wilder's chin is suspect as he has never really fought anyone who can/could be regarded as a hard hitter.

Ortiz was way past his prime, and yet the old man's punches hurt Wilder. Since Wilder does not throw much, Joshua will definitely punish him a lot. We will know how strong he is when he meets a hard hitter like Joshua on Joshua's good day.
