The refineries are over 20 years of I'm not mistaken. They are obsolete. Their net book value is zero. This is the bullet kachikwu wanted to bite. But pengassan got in his way |

ornicus:A 20 years old refinery is relatively young, the the US, there are refinery of over 70 yrs and still functioning. If properly maintained a refinery should be able to function for 100+ yrs. Lack of maintenance is the problem with our refineries. |

Nothing can ever work in Nigeria. It can never develop..we are too greedy... Its a curse on the four try.. Look around you. This is nearly 2020... Can you see any change Just as if we are still in a stone age and this is for anyone that has managed to enter a plane and leave Nigeria before. Someone who has always lived here and never travelled before won't have an idea how beautiful some coubtres are. This place is just hell on earth... |

This refinery issue again? When Atiku said he would privatise that sector our idiotic citizens were calling him thief..Well,Mr integrity had been our Minister of petroleum for the past 5years and Nigeria is still paying heavily for subsidy and we still keep budgeting bogus money for the maintenance of the already dead Refineries Shame on the 15million people that voted this clueless man! |

ednut1: charliboy654: http://canaryusa.com/stresses-of-middle-age-for-todays-refineries/ You have a point. Going by this article on aging refineries in the US, it may be no wonder we have these issues. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13203-018-0211-z Very interesting reading here. We may never fully recover the refineries if this is anything to go by |

odave: There is no big deal about the refineries. All gocernment has to.do is to end petrol.subsidies and deregulate the price. After that, privatize the refineries. This government has refused to do that. Buhari.prefers to keep throwing money at the refineries rather than selling them off as advised by Kachikwu. 1 Like |

SoNature: I don't think hypocrisy is the right word Sometimes one could just call it unrealistic optimism Thing is to say Nigeria is finished isn't far from the truth but saying is just that , it's saying it. What do you now do? Leave the country to the Chinese to take over and then turn all Natives to second class citizens ? Hence being apartheid part 2? Or you keep speaking up against the injustice and corruption of.the political class and keep speaking against them till one day enough people get bestirred and take back the country from these APc and pdp hooligans? Which is better accept defeat or aluta continua ? |
Re: Nigeria’s Refineries In Ruins Despite Mous With China, India, Others by livebyday(m): 8:21am On Dec 02, 2019 |
Ugosample: We have the people, but what I think you mean is until the people unite . Remember the Stalin example with the chicken and grains? This is what the political class have done to the people .. they have Intentionally improvished , and starved the people to the extent that any small amount of grains they release is met with praise and gratitude meanwhile the people have forgotten it's these same people releasing the grains that made them hungry in the first place. This is how tyrants work.. they will keep making sure the price of food goes up and fuel stays high so that when they decide to pass obnoxious bills like social media gag bill and release small food to certain people they will never speak up against the government. This is why I believe there will be an eventual constitutional amendment before the end of next year to all for a third term for presidents |
