That is outrageous . Suspend licence , seize the car for a month etc but to charge 50k for traffic light violators will increase the violent reaction of erring drivers and it will endanger the lives of both the motorists and the frsc officers . 1 Like |

50K fine is too much though. The fines should not be more than min wage. STAY POSITIVE MY FRIENDS, watch the music lyric video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0qCKH4f-d0 |

Why are traffic laws here so punitive yet, motorists refuse to change? Because those expected to enforce the laws do not respect it themselves. They are only interested in extortions and shake downs. Times without number, you find those supposed to uphold the law disobeying it with impunity, the worse offense - driving one way at top speed. We haven't forgotten the poor lady who lost a leg due to a reckless bullion van driving against traffic in Warri. The only motivator for these officers to do their jobs is an intimidating fine which will compel the erring driver to bribe his way out for a lesser but quit pricey sum. |

Everyone just commenting, no one is here to say the truth. It shows we all love lawlessness and we are expecting a better Nigeria. If you are not an offender you won't pay a dime. 1 Like |

What is the statutory duty of FRSC? Are they established to generate money? and no one has ever asked, which account are they generating the money to? |

How do they intend to implement this? There are so many traffic enforcement agencies. Hence the confusion. In my opinion, I think state governments should be responsible for traffic laws in their states and FRSC should be responsible for highways. |

A welcome development at least it will scare some Nigerians however this policy may fail.FRSC staff although not all would use this to their advantage by waiting for motorist to default 1 Like |

I don't see anything bad in this,if you know you will fall victim of this kindly leave you car at home by this, you'll help reduce the number of vehicles plying the road hence traffic reduction. But the major problem here is that not all traffic lights are working... |
Re: FRSC To Introduce N50,000 Fine For Traffic Light Violators In 2020 by ppogba: 4:16pm On Dec 07, 2019 |
soberdrunk: No correlation between the two. There are still offenses in Nigeria that the judge will fine you N2500. Come to think of it, why should a sane man disobey the light that is meant to ensure orderliness? It is only in Nigeria that you will see a traffic police standing by the traffic light. In sane societies, the light alone is. enough . Drive as if every child walking by the road side is your child. Simple. |

I think in the doctrine of justice, punishment should be commensurate with the crime.. How do you fine someone N50, 000 for breaking traffic law? |
