*EXTRACTS FROM REPORT OF THE ZONALCOORDINATORS MEETING WITH THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVES* Dear esteemed comrades, Find below extracts from the reports of the interaction of ZCs with the National Executives: At Abuja on Thursday 23rd July, NAAT EXCOS and ZCs after their internal meetings for two days met the IPPIS director and the SALARIES AND WAGES COMMISSION office on sundry issues. Below are some of the fallout from the meeting: INCLUSION OF EAs INTO OUR SALARIES: *That IPPIS is favourably disposed to include the OHA in our salary but other EAs were adjudged to be the responsibility of each Universities governing council. NHF : That this is a statutory deductions and there's nothing the Union could do about it. The president informed that he has met with the director of NHF and he advised that every members as a matter of urgency should go online and download FORM 2 and fill, then take the form to Any mortgage bank in the state and open account, it is this account that the monthly deductions would be remitted failure to do so would amount to forfeiting all the deductions at retirement. And to those that already have account with mortgage bank, they should go online and download the UPGRADE FORM and fill then take it to the mortgage bank in the state. MINIMUM WAGE ARREARS: The President informed that arrangements have been concluded to pay this month. He said the payment will be done separately. It's either we receive the alert before July salary or shortly after the payment of July salary.-PRO Copied. 1 Like 1 Share |

This one that everyone is talking about new minimum wage arrears. How much is it going to amount to self. The juniors staff may even receive about N50,000 as the total arrears. It could be very small self. |
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by toivar: 11:46am On Jul 27, 2020 |
Well everyone will receive according to their level in the govt service but I know someone that's a teacher in Federal govt girls college in Benin city edo state, he received additional 11 or 12k per month. At the end he received like 105-110k which covers a period of April to December 2019 and that amount was added to the minimum wage before the arrears came around December last year. So for the teriary institution workers that have not received since April last ur till now, u can do the calculation. That's about 15months arrears. I think if u in level 9, u may take additional like 14-15k additional Pay rise. So for those teriary workers that have not received minimum wage, once u pay rises significantly this week Friday when they pay, just know that the minimum wage will hit the following week. It's a 3-4days interval. lecturer50: |

toivar:Are u saying the minimum wage has not been added to tertiary institutions salary already? |
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by toivar: 3:38pm On Jul 27, 2020 |
No it's not been added cos once it's added a few days later they will pay the arrears. OR they will pay the arrears and some days later, u will see an increase in the your pay for that month. What I am sure of now is that minimum wage arrears is some days away cos there has been a stability in the particular days of payment. For example, NBTI have been constantly paid on the 26th for past few months this is a pointer to stability in IPPIS system. And they is usually preceded by thebnew minimum wage arrears. This has been confirmed by even people that have got the minimum wage arrears is past from those in Federal govemnet colleges to those in Federal health institutions. So I guess federal tertiary institutions are days ahead of celebration Jombojombo: |

toivar:i thought IPPIS claimed they have paid tertiary institution their minimum wage right from the day they started paying tertiary institution. The only thing they admitted not yet paid is the arrears, which they have promised to pay as soon as salary is stabilized. so i'm surprised at your assertion, that they are yet to pay tertiary institution minimum wage. As it is, based on projection the minimum wage arrears will span from April last year to January this year. Since IPPIS started in February this year 1 Like |

Well, u may be right though that minimum wage has been paid but the minimum wage payment for others was immediately preceded by the arrears so I felt that since we as federal tertiary hav not received the arrears then it's has not been included for us since we they started paying us. Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by ashafson: 11:23pm On Jul 27, 2020 |
toivar:Lets me try to explain like this: old min wage +salary increase=NMW Now, for tertiary institutions: April 2019 to Jan 2020 were given old salary Feb2020 to date were given NMW - KILLER TAX (Which was put into law in feb 2020) killer tax almost diminish the salary increase hence no visible change in salaray after NMW implementation. But btw April 2019 to Jan 2020, killer tax was not a law, therefore salary increase not diminished. So, the NMWA will be the salary increase btw April 2019 to Jan 2020 which doesnt include killer tax. so we are expecting something tangible as NMWA. 1 Like |

Well I don't know about that but I think unneeded to first ask those in your MDA if they have been paid minimum wage arrears or if minimum wage has been increased. I think u will immediately start earning minimum wage. Thanks Alexjayson: |

ashafson:U are not very right sir, the killer tax implementation started in 2016, then my tax jumped from 7k to 18k. I just feel because they just introduced it to salaries of higher institutions, u might be lucky it won't be considered when computing your arrears. 1 Like |

heykims:exactly, we in the tertiary institution dont have any idea on the killer tax untill feb 2020 moreover the tax increase was bill was put into law in feb 2020 and that what made it look like we were not paying tax b4. for example b4 feb 2020, i was paying 4k as tax but now it is 25k |
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by toivar: 9:03am On Jul 28, 2020 |
From 4k to 25k, that's too bad of the govt. That has definitely eroded the minimum wage increase. ashafson:From 4k to 25k tax? Please don't confuse your total deductions(tax, pension, NHF and union) with income tax. Before ippis, my tax was #4,533.92 but from February 2020, it increased to #10,678.68.Your own can't be that different. I am on contediss 9:3 |

heykims:at bolded, expect that KILLER TAX to be deducted from the NMW arrears. I got a hold of a document containing computationof the arrears by the bursary department of University of Ibadan. Come and see how they cut almost 40% of the arrears for each level in the name of taxes. So those of you expecting a huge sum of money should tone down your expectations because this government no dey joke with tax |

It's obvious you were underpaying your taxes. Income tax is 7% so if you earning above 100k, the 4000 you paying is shortchanging the government. Do the calculations. exactly, we in the tertiary institution dont have any idea on the killer tax untill feb 2020 moreover the tax increase was bill was put into law in feb 2020 and that what made it look like we were not paying tax b4. for example b4 feb 2020, i was paying 4k as tax but now it is 25k[/quote] 1 Like |

So sorry bout u predicament. U will need to see your school busar so he can get u ur payslip. And u may have to write tru u busar to IPPIS regarding over deduction. It will eventually be resolved but may take a bit of time. okhiai1: |
