KANYE WEST’S hit song ‘Gold Digger’ propelled the derogatory term into the mainstream. The phrase, used to describe women who pursue men for their money alone, has been used the world over by scorned and pessimistic men.

Although much attention is usually paid to female gold diggers, little or no attention is paid to men who do the same.

However, those at online magazine, Madame Noire have complied a list of eight tell-tell signs of whether your man is after you or just your money.

Do you have a gold digging man?

1. He knows your ATM Pin but struggles with your phone number. As trust builds, it is not atypical for those in relationships to divulge information such as their ATM Pin number associated with their checking accounts. Over time, if you recognize that your man knows your ATM Pin number better than he knows your phone number, then it is not a good sign. A prospective spouse should be more interested in learning more about you and building a strong relationship with a solid foundation than overly frequent extractions from your account.

2. He gives you a blank stare when you don’t buy designer goods. Typically, men who are gold diggers like extravagant gifts to complement their swagger. In lieu of being happy with economical offerings of love, gold digging men continually prefer to have clothes, jewelry and shoes from high-end designers. If he consistently gives you a blank stare when you don’t buy such lavish goods, then something is clearly wrong.

3. He always seems to forget his wallet. In the beginning stages of a relationship, most men certainly do not have a problem paying for dinner, movies or other activities that may occur on dates. Over a period of time, though, if you recognize that your man always wants you to pay the bill or he continually uses the excuse that “he forgot his wallet,” then this is not a good sign. A committed and loving man will have no problems settling the bill

4. He tells you to take an indecent proposal for the team. If you told your man that your boss presented you with an indecent proposal, and he asks you how much, then this is not a good sign. Moreover, if he tells you to take one for the team, then clearly he does not love you. A disciplined and committed partner, who is interested in marrying you, would not entertain such a proposal.

5. You are the latest promotion. Are you the latest promotion- that is, are you the latest upgrade for your gold digging man? Typically, these types of men are only interested in the luxuriant and opulent lifestyle and are only looking for women who will help them reach the mountaintop. If you have heard gossip that your man likes to upgrade on a frequent basis, then it would be wise to refrain from spending money relative to his copious desires.

6. The only gift you receive is Quicken. Frequent gifts should be the normative in an intimate and healthy relationship. However, if the only gift that you have received is Quicken Home and Business software so that he can keep up with your cash flow, then something is clearly wrong. You should definitely know that he is only interested in your finances.

7. The only emotion he shows is on your paydays. Relationships are built upon trust, love, faith and positive communication and emotions. Common stereotypical information would lead many to believe that all men are aloof and indifferent. This is certainly not the truth. However, if you recognize that your man continually shows a lack of emotion and detached behavior, except on your paydays, he is probably not interested in you beyond your finances.

8. The conversation always ends with money. As previously stated, positive and empowering communication is absolutely essential for the sustenance of a fruitful and healthy relationship. This type of communication should cover a full gamut of topics and involve active listening. The conversation should not be strictly and consistently confined to money.
