Dear Nairalander/Nigerian,

It's almost a new year and everyone is making new resolutions for 2020 forgetting one very important aspect which has been plaguing us as a nation.

This country is headed backwards on a steady basis due to our better than you attitude. Igbos hating igbo, Yoruba arguing over which king is higher, Muslim hating Christians, north hating South, Niger delta's seeing others as parasites etc has to end with 2019. Here are some reasons:

1. Mixed bloodline:
Before the early jihad wars, there was a lot of inter trade and mixture. I can say categorically that the 3 major tribes all mixed at a point. Using the igbo as a case study;
The igbo were traders/farmers who were fond of foreign women. Also as they journeyed to present day igbo land, they engaged in trade with the tribes they met and even when they settled in today's igbo land, they still maintained trade routes as far back as Mecca, Medina, Cameroon, Gambia and the early Portuguese etc. Igbos were fond of fulani and bini women then and alot of people can remember an igbo great grand mother or so. Igbo were fortunate to inherit a lot of talents and genes from these foreign mothers which are still evident till today. A similar or same story can be told for all other tribes before. The first stop to these was the sokoto jihad war followed by the colonial masters invasion and the rise of slave trade. This is one of the reasons why though all tribes have different accounts of origin, we have similar Dna groups and dishes and even some similar words.

2. We freely marry or relate outside Nigeria
Those who refuse to relate with other tribes are ready to marry a woman from UK or China or even Cameroon just because they aren't the "enemy". Imagine we weren't joined together in one country, we will be happy to be friends and even marry so why not now that we are in a country The USA which is almost like 51 countries and they don't even care about it. They are Americans. For example, if you are observant, you'll see that Hawaii, Texas, Louisania, Maryland, New Jersey, Tenesse and Georgia each have a subtle unique accent. Check out the older generation natives in the rural areas to confirm.

3. All major Religions condemn it
The Bible says that God had broken the walls of partition between us. Why rebuild it?
In the Al-Hujurat, the Quran says all believers are brothers. Why judge based on who converted who?

4. It makes us weak to fight the common enemy
We see the enemy, we know the problem, we know what to do to the enemy but then we remember that the enemy is our kinsman and we decide to fight for him against the "enemy" from the other tribe / religion.

5. It won't stop restructuring of Nigeria if we need to
We can have a restructured Nigeria and still be friendly statesmen. Someone people think that having an open mindset towards the next person means giving up freedom. It's not true.

6. Not only you has resources
Some people feel because they have the resources that feeds Nigeria, they should be worshipped and every other tribe is second class. This is stupidity at its peak because as poor as Nigeria none of you will asslick or worship China or the USA despite Nigeria owing them billions of $$$ and still receiving billions annually in foreign aid despite your "resources" So why should your neighbour worship you or beg for your favour at every turn ?

7. Nobody asked to be born into a particular country, tribe or family. Close your eyes and imagine you were from the state you hate the most. I hope you know it could have been a permanent reality and you will be cursing your very kinsmen by now?

8. If we really want a better tomorrow, this is a sacrifice we must all make.
We aren't wired to protest, we can instead push for a revolution of mindset. With the right mindset in place, Nigeria will change in the next 5yrs. The right leaders will win all the political positions and within 1yr, the world will be rushing to buy plots of land in our villages.

9. If we don't we are hypocrites and things can't get better. That's the bitter fact. If you can't stand the sight of marrying from the next tribe, if there is a particular tribe you will rather die than see as the president of Nigeria, if there are certain people you can't rent your apartment to and yet you don't mind marrying a white thousands of miles away who sold and bought your ancestors as slaves, there's something wrong somewhere.

When you insult the next tribe, the joke is on you cus blood from that tribe runs in your veins. grin grin
When you curse them, you share instantly. When you hold someone on the ground, you remain on the ground too.

Do you want 24/7 light in Nigeria within the next 2yrs?
Good roads and developments everywhere?
Appreciation of the naira value?

Forgive the next tribe, remove tribal sentiments in actions and sentiments, encourage your family and friends to do the same and lastly, defend them when you see your people fighting them.
Everyone has a role to play in building the country of our dreams and if they feel hated, they won't contribute their needed quota. Let's stop doing it alone, let's do it together.
It will may take time but surely sky scrappers will rise in our villages.

Happy New year 2020 in advance.

Warmest regards.
Athaliya.

The bolded is one of cardinal reasons Nigeria cannot and will not achieve unity. Like USA, Nigeria fought a war and after the war unlike USA, Nigeria did not reconcile with every section of saga even as I write this post. The Biafrans are regarded as defeated people and had been treated as such. It is a matter of idiocy for Nigerians to happily jump into analogy with USA. In today's USA, the states in the Confederacy have produced more presidents than the states in the Union. In addition, cities in the Confederacy are arguably more developed, at least in numerical terms, than their counterparts in the Union. This nation building spirit has not been found in Nigeria and will never. As far as I am concerned, anything short of total and unconditional disintegration of the shithole called Nigeria is a practical joke.

If every Nigeria saw the January 15, 1966 coup as you posited in second bolded stanza, this discussion should not have taken place. In addition, the goon we have today as president would have been sacked from the army because he was not qualified to be a member of Nigerian armed forces officers cadre. Nepotistic tendencies of Tafawa Balewa's government made sure that goons such as Abacha, Buhari, Nassarawa, Isa Bukar, Nathan Nuhu, Nwadikon Pam, Dimpka, etc were pushed into the officer's cadre of Nigerian armed forces. However the visionary young officers who participated in the coup were immediately branded as tribal nuts by British which engineered a war of attrition on eastern region.

The idea of some folks having resources which supposedly feeds Nigeria and at the same time feeling to be worshipped was injected into their skulls by fellow Nigerians and British in order to spite another group. It did not stop at this instance. They even went further to wrongly lectured some of the goons about their forbearers. I will give up any crude oil well in Igbo land in order to have independent Igbo land or even Biafra so that people of the nation can decide to build deep water seaport and international airport anywhere in Biafra territory without idiotic political encumbrance from any section of the shithole called Nigeria.

OP u tried.
But in Nigeria we have three major problems they are the Fulanis, Our political class nd what I will call "Igbo factor"
I will explain them one after the other
1). The fulani problem. The Fulanis are one of the major problems Nigerians are facing since Buhari came to power. They do not see non Fulanis as human being especially the Christians. They prefer a Fulani from Niger Republic, Chad, Togo, Sierra Leon to any other tribe in Nigeria. They for not see southerners as their brothers especially the Christian nd southerners. This can be seen on d role Buhari played during 1985 OAU secretary general election where he votes s Fulani from Niger Rep/Chad as against his own country person just because he is igbo. Even in his present loop sided appointments A Fulani Lady will never marry u unless u ar Moslem, sometimes I wonder if the Moslem they practice is d same Yoruba's practise cos I no so many Yoruba Moslem ladies that got married to Christians even to non Yoruba Christian men. Marriage we all know foster unity among people of different religious nd ethnic background, but it seems Fulanis ar not ready for this unity . They still want to conquer the entire country forcefully.
They can easily kill any southerner or Christian at any opportunity.

2) Our political class. This people has so much divided the country along ethnic line which enable them to perpetuate their evil agenda. Eg El Rufai, Buhari. We all know that immediately Buhari was sworn in as president in one of his interviews he classic the entire south south nd south east as 5% nd made it clear that he will not do anything for them since they did not vote him, who does that.
El Rufai immediately after 2019 election said that Yorubas ar Hippocrates cos according to him they did not vote 4 Buhari overwhelming he said they divided their votes 50-50 4 both Buhari nd Atiku. He said cos they didn't take side cos they wanted to follow any one that wins

3) Igbo factor. Anybody who tells himself the truth without taking side will know that majority of the tribes in Nigeria ar always united when it comes to anything that will be against they Igbos. This can even be seen on this forum.

The only solution to the problem of these country is to divide it cos it seems we ar not meant to be one

In addition, the goon we have today as president would have sacked from the army because he was not qualified to be a member of Nigerian armed forces officers cadre. Nepotistic tendencies of Tafawa Balewa's government made sure that goons such as Abacha, Buhari, Nasarawa, Isa Bukar, Nathan Nuhu, Nwadikon Pam, Dimpka, etc were pushed into the officer's cadre of Nigerian armed forces. However the visionary young officers were immediately branded as tribal nuts by British and engineered war of attrition on eastern region.

The idea of some folks having resources which supposedly feeds Nigeria and feeling to be worshipped was injected into the skulls by fellow Nigerians and British in order to spite another group. It did not stop at this instance. They even went further to lecture some of the goons wrongly on their forbearers. I will give up any crude oil well in Igbo land in order to have independent Igbo land or even Biafra so that people of the nation can decide to build deep water seaport and international airport anywhere in Biafra territory without idiotic political encumbrance from any section of the shithole called Nigeria.

Only a miracle from God can disintegrate Nigeria. The best we can mount a united front to demand is restructuring

Some people derived joy and happiness in hating others..

We are busy tearing ourself up on NL while those who we supposed to hold responsible are the one even fueling the division.

Nigeria is not currently working for any regions that's the facts..

Exactly, we need to open our eyes and smell the coffee

No, it will neither take miracle nor God to disintegrate the shithole called Nigeria but men of steel integrity and intestinal fortitude. The end of the tunnel is very near.

Where do you see Igbo hating each other or nairaland is now a parameter for justification.

I don't understand how someone will sit comfortably under brown roof and fabricate liess from the pit of hell.

Yorubas love each other abi...may that young man afrom ekiti shouldn't have eaten his girlfriend while sharing partt of the meat with the mother.

Maybe Odumakin shouldn't be fighting tinubu or maybe it should have block west.

You guys should stop all these lagos-Ibadan express news propaganda. It is dead and won't work again.

Ibadan express news is dead and buried.

It was another blindsided shot from the OP. The silly analogy left me with no comment.

The timing isn't right to push for Biafra. Restructuring is a better motion at this point in time. Please think about it logically

Now is the right time. Lots of people are getting fed up. Leverage on the Buhari-factor to win international sympathy.

Fulanis from Chad and Niger will start mass movement into Nigeria following Buhari's opening of the border to all Africans.

They will occupy your homeland and then it will be too late.

Anyone who thinks the Hausa/Fulani will relinquish power in 2023 is a dreamer.

Now is the time for the push. If this opportunity is missed...

The fool who wrote the above pasted crap and the moronic poster who made sure it saw Nairaland do not know how many LGAs in the Nigeria and how they were being distributed among geopolitical zones.
