In the world of intelligence operations, the USA carried out a detailed analysis to the last. 1) is there a diplomatic mission in Iran? No, it's been closed for years now. That's means Americans are not directly in harms way in Iran. 2) will the attack lead to repriasal attack on Americans across the Middle East? Yes Americans have been warned about travelling to Middle East for a while and things intensified when oil cargo started been attacked. This aided in reducing further Americans travelling to Middle East, except those on diplomatic or business purpose. 3) How well are Americans protected in Middle East? Sovereign countries won't allow attack of foreigners on their soil meaning their intelligence agencies and security apparatus will step up their surveillance and operations. Iran response will be a bait and opportunity to rope out espionage, target and assassination operations by Iran deep cover agents in countries in the Middle East. The Americans left are battle harden soldiers and contractors... Seriously limiting Iran's capacity to cause civilian damage, forcing them to confront the USA on the battlefield. Remember there are Shiite Islam followers across all nations of Arabs land, but they are the minority. Which pose as threat to the ruling Sunni class, so all efforts will be in place to check mate and suppress them. As it stands it's only countries like Iraq, Lebanon, northern part of Yemen that are under Iran's strong influence.. I will like to call syria but Russia doesn't want Iran meddling in Syria. Iran to Russia is like a nagging girlfriend... Always screaming for attention and paranoid... It's so bad iran even points out some Russia double standards because of their refusal to sell them S400 middle defence system. Which would have been a game changer in the war between Israel and Iran.. |

Awoo88: Terrorists to the fake juice in stolen Palestine, or the criminal US, abi? Hezzbollah in Lebanon have members in the parliament and is a crucial partner during the formation of government in that country, likewise Kataib Hezzbollah in Iraq. What makes them terrorists? Mind you, they have been praised for defending Christians in both Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. Can you say that about the criminal USA, Israel, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia that funds and sponsor ISIS and Alqaeda? https://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middle-East/2012/1221/In-Hezbollah-stronghold-Lebanese-Christians-find-respect-stability 1 Like |

2mercy: In 1954, the democratically elected government of Iran decided to do what many newly independent democracies do: Nationalize its oil industry At the time, Iran’s oil was controlled by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, which essentially had a monopoly on the development and sale of Iranian oil. Anglo-Iranian was primarily British owned and was a holdover from the time Great Britain controlled Iran’s territory. The Iranian government wanted to buy out Anglo-Iranian’s interests. As such, the UK imposed a boycott on Iranian oil to put pressure on the government to give in. Unfortunately, this strengthened Iran’s communist party (backed by Moscow) which certainly would have gone a lot further than the democratic socialist party wanted to do. As such, the UK and US supported a coup against the democratically elected government which essentially put the military in charge under the ostensible authority of the Shah. Iran went from being a democracy to a dictatorship, but Iranian oil started flowing again. British and American interests thrived as did the Shah and the Iranian military. The people of Iran, not so much. For roughly the next 25 years the Shah robbed the country blind while the military terrorized the populace. It was able to do so because it had the full support of the United States government which gave it weapons. But in 1979 the tables turned. The Shah became ill and the state security apparatus couldn’t deal with a growing number of student protests. In desperation, the military sought out the one person with enough credibility and anti-Shah credentials to be acceptable to the student protesters. The Ayatollah Rohollah Khomeni, who had been living in exile in Paris. On his return, the Ayatollah set up a religious council that took effective executive control of the country. The student protesters were mollified by creating a “Revolutionary Guard” which essentially made them a fascist police force responsible for security at the local level. Iran then demanded: The return of the Shah, who was in the United States for medical treatment Repatriation of the Shah’s foreign assets, which they claimed had been stolen from the Iranian people. The United States, having been caught completely by surprise by this turn of events (the CIA hadn’t thought the students a threat and totally overlooked the importance of Khomeni) was at a loss at how to proceed. President Carter decided to allow the Shah to remain in the United States and tried to explain to the new Iranian government that it couldn’t seize the Shah’s private assets. The student revolutionaries weren’t going to take this lying down and in late 1979 they attacked the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking most of the staff hostage (some staff members managed to escape the compound and found refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador). The military and religious leaders stood idly by and did nothing. Carter responded by completely cutting off diplomatic relations with Iran, seizing all Iranian assets in the United States, and imposing an embargo on the country. Enter Ronald Reagan who was up against Carter in the 1980 presidential election. Behind the scenes, Reagan’s people encouraged the Iranians to keep hold of the hostages until after the election at which point they were promised a very good deal. As such, Tehran didn’t respond to the Carter administration’s diplomatic overtures. Carter made a military attempt to free the hostages which failed when two of the aircraft involved crashed at a staging point. 20 minutes after Reagan was sworn in, Iran released the hostages. However, it appears they were screwed - the sanctions stayed in place although some of Iran’s assets were transferred as part of the negotiations. Reagan thus got to deny giving money for hostages and got the good press when the hostages were released. 1 Like |

UK Calls on Iran to 'Pursue Urgent De-Escalation' After Missile Strikes on US Targets in Iraq WORLD 09:54 08.01.2020 (updated 10:23 08.01.2020) Get short URL 4619 Subscribe On 8 January, two waves of missile strikes were carried out by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) against US military facilities in Erbil and Ayn al-Asad Air Base in Iraq. UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has condemned the "reckless and dangerous attacks" on Iraqi military bases hosting US-led coalition forces. "We are concerned by reports of casualties and use of ballistic missiles", Raab said in a statement as quoted by Reuters. "We urge Iran not to repeat these reckless and dangerous attacks, and instead to pursue urgent de-escalation", the foreign secretary added. "A war in the Middle East would only benefit Daesh and other terrorist groups". Media reports earlier suggested that around 80 people were killed and around 200 injured following Tehran's airstrikes targeting US military facilities in Iraq's Erbil and Ayn al-Asad Air Base. Washington has not confirmed this information yet. Meanwhile, Iraq's military has said that no casualties were recorded among the country's forces following 22 projectiles launched by Iran towards American facilities in Iraq. According to a statement by the Iraqi military, 17 missiles targeted Ayn al-Asad Air Base, while 5 others reportedly fell on coalition headquarters in the city of Erbil. On Wednesday morning, two waves of airstrikes were launched by the IRGC against American military forces in Iraq. No retaliatory strike from the US followed, but US President Donald Trump tweeted that he would make a statement later about the attacks. DETAILS TO FOLLOW |

SenecaTheYonger:First you have to understand that Iran is one of the oldest nations on earth with China. They have been in continuous existence for thousands of years and have always been strong. But lets move to the 20th century. As for Obama, he created that deal with other major powers because everybody knew that Iran already has the know-how and tech to create nuclear bombs so the deal was designed to creat time so other agreements can be created and better negotiations can take place then Trump can along nnot understanding how international politics works and thinking he could bully stronger and proud nations.Iran is not an Arab nation they are totally different, far stronger innovative and advanced than any Arab country thiss is what Trump doesnt understand. He seems to think he is dealing with building contractors that he is used to dealing with. 1 Like 1 Share |
