Positivepoint:My friend I know how pained you are about this but take heart , what is meant to be will always be no matter how you divide eastern region it doesn't change the fact that this port is in our backyard and we don't have to go all the way to Lagos ports, economically the ball is gradually turning to the east, economically the east is still a virginland , Lagos is fading 9 Likes 2 Shares

solmusdesigns:Which market, Southeast host the biggest markets Kindly read what these two guys said Yoruba man sad by Maerskline decision Prince Olayiwola Shittu, He said, “I haven’t seen the Maerskline notice to know the details, but you know their decision may be like telling us they are no longer comfortable with the port congestions in Lagos and that they have alternatives. I also think that they want to avoid complaints about liners’ overbearing charges regime such as vessel queue and delay charges, container delay deposits, storage charges etc. My only worry is that manufacturers and importers with operational base in Lagos and environs will have to face additional haulage costs and attendant risks.” Igbo man happy for Maerskline decision On his part, the Chairman, All Ports Unified Freight Forwarders Practitioners Association, APUFFPA, Prince Mike Okorie, said Maerskline latest decision will provide cost relief for owners of cargo destined for the South-South and South-East region and contiguous markets and manufacturing locations. 4 Likes |

Congratulations to Rivers state. It's about to exponentially grow. And given the direct access to energy in the state, it's a mouth watering scenario. If they play their game right, it would become the top draw for industries and consequently people in Nigeria. 5 Likes |

With Maerskline relocating so is Safmarine I guess. Other large shipping companies like China shipping, etc should toe the same path. Very clearly certain leadership policies have bestowed undue advantages to certain parts and tribes of this country to the detriment and systematic underdevelopment of others. Imagine the greed and unfairness of the southwesterners and fulanis in their attempt to retain federal power in 2023 with their well calculated effort to stop the restructuring of this country. We see why they clamour to hold on to power and kill themselves. With the undue advantage of the ports in Apapa and Tin can billions arrive into tbe accounts of Apapa local government and Lagos state every year to the disadvantage of other states with sea ports. With the under utilisation of ports outside Lagos, no growth. Take the case of Onitsha. For several years we have heard stories of plans to dredge the river. Without the dredging of the river, ships cannot get to the east, whereas there is a sea port there. It is not in doubt that the biggest port users in this country are the south easterners with a lot of the cargoes going to the south east. Now the cost of transportation, which is the exclusive domain of the northerners nd southwesterners has become unbearable. The effect is the high cost of goods in the market. Also yearly communities on the bank of the river suffer severe flooding. Nothing has been done now and there is no hope for that. Rather than ensure goood functioning ports, government allowed bonded terminals as a way out. With bonded terminals a few people smile to the bank daily. Even the bonded terminals no longer receive cargos as they are faced with the same traffic problems. Badagry should be developed for effective use. That way importers within Babagry road can choose the sea port when they ship their cargoes. If shipping companies spread destination sesports, ease of business improves. Southwest cargos can come here to the southwest and south eastern cargoes can go to Onne, Onitsha, Warri, etc. That will boost the economy of the states and employment would be created. Ports in Lagos would be decongested, traffic would improve and truck queues would vanish. We know what to do in this country to make it better, but we always put greed and tribalism first in all that we do. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Very Good development. After all the revenue generated from that port inform of VAT is being shared equally amongst states, despite Lagos State being the highest contributor to VAT in Nigeria. Might take ages, but I pray APC government in Lagos succeed in the construction of Lekki Seaport/Airport. Eko O ni Baje. |

Wizzz1: The policy was about making the Lagos ports the single point of Destination for Sea bound Cargoes thereby denying the Niger Delta ports of revenue from Maritime Economy and putting undue stress on the Road infra in Lagos and the other adjoining states. Onne Port is connected by Rail to Aba and Enugu , which simply means that both states will be boosted by market expansion, industries can choose to locate their plants there and from Enugu to Onitsha ,Nnewi and Awka is a very short distance. This is the biggest boost for the Enyimba Economic City and the Aba shoe Manufacturers who can now have options of exporting their products, wares and goods to the other parts of Africa. This has been a very big head ache for some of us . When Maersk come to bring cargoes to Onne , they will not leave empty , they will take goods after very cheap rates back to their Destination ports , these goods will be Aba made shoes, spare parts , leather products etc from the East 5 Likes 1 Share

Understanding Crane hazard in lifting operation! 10 Steps to Prevent Crane Accident Human error is the most common cause of crane accidents. This extends to both crane operators and those workers responsible for maintenance and safety procedures. Many accidents result from a breakdown in communication between the project manager, site supervisor, the operator and the workers on the ground. Accidents also occur when workers fail to follow safe work practices and procedures. While a crane may appear to be a simple device, its operation involves complex physics. Here are the steps I recommend: 1. Complete an Inspection. Verifying that the crane has received its annual inspection is only the first required step. It’s critical to check the operating functions daily to ensure all components are working properly. Experienced and inexperienced operators are often surprised to discover they may have inadvertently pushed the crane beyond its limits and damaged key components of the crane that could lead to failure. 2. Always complete a Field Level Hazard Assessment. A Field Level Hazard Assessment is the process where you: Identify site & job specific hazards, Evaluate the risk associated with the hazards identified, and Eliminate or control the hazards prior to and during the work task. 3. Complete a plan. Each lift is different from another, and it’s important to review all hazards, the load weight capacities, integrity of the equipment, the possible effect of wind, and other factors. The operator, riggers, and other workers involved with the lift must be part of that planning process. 4. Communicate the Plan. The purpose of a “Tool Box” or “Tailgate” meeting is to: · Communicate – Hazards & Controls for the site specific task · Communicate – Safe Work Practices & Procedures to be followed · Communicate – The Plan to successfully complete the task · Communicate – Assign clear roles & responsibilities to the ground crew · Communicate – Agree to the plan and sign off on the plan 5. Follow the Plan. Far too often accidents occur when the agreed upon plan is not followed or enforced. 6. Know your Ground Conditions. The most powerful, carefully rigged crane is only as strong and stable as the surface upon which it stands. You need to know the classification for the soil or other material under the crane, and adjust your setup and load limits accordingly. While many cranes are equipped with outriggers, extending them doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve provided a stable surface. 7. Know your Radius. The counterweight and boom travel within a specific arc is called the swing radius. It’s important to ensure that the area within that radius is barricaded off. It is critically important to establish a control zone for those authorized to work in the immediate area. 8. Use your crane properly. Cranes are engineered for vertical lifting. That doesn’t stop some crews from trying to use them for side loading or other improper activities. Using a crane to drag something across the ground or from under an obstacle puts extreme stress on the boom, the turntable, and all the structural members. It could potentially weaken key components and lead to their failure. 9. Communication. Whether you use radios, air horns, hand signals, or some other method, there needs to be clear communication between the operator and the other workers. That’s especially critical when a crane is making a lift in which the operator cannot see the load. Don’t assume that everyone knows how instructions will be communicated. 10. Stay Focused. Everyone associated with a crane needs to stay alert and focused on the job at hand – especially on critical or difficult lifts. The lack of focus is a common cause of work related accidents, incidents and serious near-miss events. #TuesdayMotivation #NairaMarley #TuesdayThoughts #TachaXDonJazzy #TachaXKhafi #Noob #Lagos-Ibadan #Lakers #Ojota #Nigeria #milo #Lassa #Fever #HappyBirthdaySir #Ovaltine #Makinde #dame #Tariq #ChannelsTV #Buhari #Scorpion www.equilog.com.ng @equilog.com.ng-Facebook Instgram Equilog Professional Crane Operator Training starts January 27th, 2020.
