I side with Kobojunkie on this one. You all don't seem to understand the utility his life could have posed. Killing him without questioning is simply a way for these politicians to cover things up. His life posed utility towards acquiring an actual solution. Now you all want to momentarily rejoice in one man's death, when it is glaringly obvious that the source will erect another stool pidgin, and then once that happens, you all will resume with your complaints. chyz:. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |

Kobojunkie, I think they wanted to get him alive but couldn't risk losing him entirely. The first shots were at his thigh and legs. He didn't actually die on the spot, he died from bleeding. I saw him. But this is Nigeria, a criminal like that can only be caught alive when unarmed. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by Kobojunkie: 6:39am On Dec 13, 2010 |
slap1: Well, if you say you saw it, ok. I am just against the whole "kill first, ask questions later" attitude to fighting crime that seems to have become the norm in the country. I mean that is part of reason why I am against South Africa extraditing someone like Okah back to Nigeria, even if he is found guilty of the crime. Imagine, now this guy is dead, we will probably never learn the truth and all the lives that were lost and the victims in all this will probably never learn the truth of why they were targeted and probably wait for the next set of kidnappers to rise up, and terrorize them, probably from the same group. That was what happened only last year with Boko Haram. Our policemen claimed they shot him in self defense , which I seriously doubt since he was already in their custody(about 48 hours) and it appeared he was shot in the back of the head, from the pictures we saw, and did that bring an end to Boko haram? Ofcourse not! |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by slap1(m): 7:03am On Dec 13, 2010 |
^^ Your line of reasoning is cool, but getting him alive requires intelligence, which our security operatives don't have. We are still in the crime-fighting stage of 'point-and-kill'. Hopefully, we'll graduate from it someday. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by Kobojunkie: 7:16am On Dec 13, 2010 |
^^^ I do understand why we have what we have, only I would rather we not have it anymore. I remember back when I was only growing up in Nigeria, I always wondered if the body burning down the road is that of an innocent man targeted and manipulated by someone who had a grudge and wanted him done away with. I am referring to the many cases where you have people accused of stealing or some other crime, burnt alive by a mob, without questioning, in some parts of Nigeria. I know a particular guy(very quiet individual who lived across the road with his folks) who met his fate at the hands of a mob that accused him of being a thieve. I remember watching them pummel him while the guy tried to speak but no one wanted to hear what he had to say. He was eventually burnt alive -- I saw it, and I always wondered if the right person was punished for the crime, and when I asked what he stole, no one I spoke to(those part of the mob) really knew. And this was back in 1987 or so. Fast forward about a quarter of a century later, to know that this is still considered norm in Nigeria frightens me. One of the biggest problems I have with the "point-and-kill" technic of crime solving, apart from that which I have mentioned before now, is I fear it could possibly be the new way for our politicians, and anyone who has a grudge to settle, to get rid of opposition or those that stand in their way. When we had the military, they had power to do that without needing to answer to anyone. With this new reality, I am afraid that our politicians/big men may be able to accomplish the very same with this gap in how things work. Imagine a politician needing to get rid of, or silence an individual, this is an almost clean way of accomplishing that. All they need to is announce that person is responsible for , in this case kidnappings/crimes in the area, and the problem is taken care of by our trusty policemen/army men( no investigations necessary as in this case). I just hope a family member will never be caught in this, ever. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by Boboribo: 7:30am On Dec 13, 2010 |
@slap1 - They shot him in d tie & did what? Lit up cigarettes & allowed him bleed 2 death. Could have brought him alive. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by Boboribo: 7:34am On Dec 13, 2010 |
Except the man commited suicide, 40 or 50 infantry men with medics could have gotten him alive |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by Boboribo: 7:39am On Dec 13, 2010 |
Even if the order was shoot at sight, it still does not mean 'kill at sight'. |

Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by slap1(m): 8:05am On Dec 13, 2010 |
Boboribo:It wasn't just one shot to the thigh, it was several, and the guy was still shooting ( he got a machine gun on a tripod stand). He was able to keep the soldiers from getting to him with his mad shooting till he got weak and could shoot no more. When NTA Channel 6, Aba, got there, he was still breathing, though with difficulty. Now that I think of it, I believe there was no intention of getting him alive because nothing stopped them from giving him medical help. It should take NTA at least 25 minutes to get to Obokwe forest from their Ogbor-Hill base. Something could have been done for him then. For some people, though, he is safer dead. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by Kobojunkie: 8:10am On Dec 13, 2010 |
slap1: ROFLMAO!! You are starting to sound like you believe he may have been denied help to cover-up some other crimes. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by invisible2(m): 8:22am On Dec 13, 2010 |
Yes kobo, you have a point, especially with that killing of innocents without questions. But its safer this guy dies than escape one day and terrorise people again. Again, the brutality may get to frighten those still at large, I remember how I swore to myself never to steal after watching one execution of robbers when I was a kid in the late 80s. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by slap1(m): 8:41am On Dec 13, 2010 |
Kobojunkie:Oh yeah, I believe so. This guy had sponsors, spies, etc. They are all as guilty as him. He should have told us the source of his ammunition and arms, at least. The soldiers are fooling themselves if they think their job in Abia State is done. |

Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by bisiaet: 12:42pm On Dec 13, 2010 |
It is a good news beacuse trying to aprehend criminal like this man may be too messy and may even ends up go free no one should be surprise if he was caught alive and handed over to the police and taken to court some people will rise up and say he is not a kidnapper or he is a political scapegoat some may even say GEJ want to use him to win vote in the East and so on pleae let us all remember that nothing is impossible in Nigeria so the way he was shot is cool and fine at least one is down many more to go let him go and roten in H E L L. I dont think it matters if any one agreed with his death or not in this situation secuiryt men should not take chances and any one that took arms and fight the national army of a nation is an act of aggression against the state so he must pay the price of either been caught or kill immediately so he has reap what he sowed mr kidnapper rotten in hell!!!!!!!!!!!May God punish you more and all of them who still carrying doing this wicked business you all can run but no where to hide your day is coming soon you all these bastards. |

In Jan 2010, friend of mine was shot dead along Aba/ PHC Express road by this murderer and his gangs. In June 2010, along the same road, my uncle was kidnapped but later released after some ransom was paid to this same guy and his gangs. May the likes of him meet there doom in the pits of hell. |
Re: Osisikankwu,dead? by beneli(m): 12:50pm On Dec 13, 2010 |
emmatok: Spot on. But it's still a good thing that the rogue is dead . . . The only way to achieve closure in this whole 'debacle' will be if Abians on ground ensure that T.A. - any of his stooges or any of the 'incarnations' of thief Kalu - do not come back to power in 2011. We all know that it's a difficult task given how the power equations are unfolding in the state, but it is a task which must be done if we want any progress. Osisikankwwu was a pawn who just happened to be 'demon possessed' - i suspect that most Abians knew this anyway. |

Abia (especially Aba town) will breathe relief but this jungle justice s not the panacea for kidnapping. I'd prefer He was captured alive and interrogated so He can sing a little. I'm sure this is a huge racket and His death may not deter the bigger fish who can easily find another willing scape-goat to sponsor. |

While I do not condone the act of kidnapping and thuggery. I salute the courage of an average Igbo man. The will to resist what is not right? The power and will to fight till the last drop of blood for injustice. I hope that one day these corrupt politicians shall be in osisi's position and Nigeria shall be free and free in deed. |
