it not surprising
what's surprising is the fact that this region is so backward, yet, they dictate what happens in this country.

And drag everyone to their low level in the process.
Welcome to the Fulani Republic of Naijeriya, FRN ruined currently by barawo bubu and his 40 thieves presidency cabal of the Alliance of Past/Present Crooks, APC.

After 50 years of Independence, the government of the so called disadvantaged regions ought to have done something to address the situation. You cannot continue to spoon-feed a child and expect that same child to grow, mature and be independent. A student from Abia scores 130 in the Federal Commonwealth Entrance exam, yet it's almost impossible to gain admission in the school of his choice, yet another child from Zamfara will score less than 5 and gain same admission seamlessly. How do you encourage such a child that hard work and merit pays?

Look at all the appointments the president has made so far, over 90% from the north. They are telling us they are based on merit. My question is how comes, when it comes to appointment, they are hiding under merit to appoint only their own, but when it comes to exams and admission into Federal institutions, they bring in Federal character. I'm an advocate of merit, hardwork, transparency, objectivity and emperical selection process. That way you encourage everybody to work hard for whatever he/she wants. After all, the Bible says, "he who does not work, let him not eat". It's against natural and spiritual justice and principle to take from those who work and give to those who don't work. That in itself is the root of corruption Nigeria.

I support the President's fight against corruption. I advocate the enthronement of merit and objectivity in our national life. So, Mr. President, if you are serious about your anti-corruption mantra, If you are serious about this your new "merit" policy, let's go back to the basis. Start by eliminating all forms of quota system and federal character in the admission process into Unity schools, Federal universities and recruitment/
employment into all federal civil service, agencies, parastatals and let's see who will be qualified. That's my humble submission.

Students of the school sits on the floor everyday to learn and have gotten almost so used to this system of learning.

Your wives and uncountable children production will only breed poverty.
A man that bred seventy children should be questioned by the state. People producing children instead of rice and beans should be questioned

The government in the north are actually trying. The major problem is "RELIGION" which now affects their mental, financial.. In fact, all part of their lives. I stayed 23 years of my life in Kaduna. So to some extent, I can relate

If only Orkar was wise enough, by now North would have merged with their brothers in Niger and Sudan.

The rate of backwardness North is Causing the Progressive south cannot be quantified.

They will kill to grab power but misuse the power. They have ruled Nigeria for close to 40 yrs, yet they are the poorest. Spits

Their girls married off at a very young age, no skills having up to 20 kids before menopause.

Why won't there be poverty...

Let them go abeg.. They have always been leaches... Their leaders ( ex presidents) from that region have to be blamed for they are afraid to challenge the status quo of religious beliefs which supports their present unenviable lifestyle! undecided

North is lucky that Nigeria has not separated.
With this their Boko haram of a thing, Isis will turn to Africa once they are dislodge from Syria,
So 87% poverty rate is even a good rate to compare to what the future beholds.
The only solution is not Building flyover but making 80% of their budget go into Basic Education and Secondary Schools. Not Universities.
Anyway what do I know?

They don't want your solution.
They need the almajiris to terrorise, intimidate, kill and subjugate the southerners forever.

They should be arrested not questioned. How could a sane folk breed like pigs and abandon them to fate, is that not a recipe for disaster!
The Northern Nigeria is now competing with war-torn countries like Afghanistan, Somalia and Libya.
I wish Nigeria could be divided soon so that poverty will wipe off all those animals from the face of the earth.
Nigeria with abundant human and non humna resources is now the poverty capital of the world no thanks to the unfortunate animals in the North breeding like pigs.

Congratulations to the north then.

87% poverty rate in your domain. Which means paltry 13% is left to be shared by the East, West and South.

Yet you guys with your born-to-rule mentality wouldn't mind voting a cow into power so long as he's a nortberner instead of someone with the capacity to better your lots.

My anger is that some who are educated also put themselves in this self delusion helping to 0subjugate the illiterate multitude with tribe and religion.

Believe me, if this country breaks today, the poor will eat the rich in the north.

Ndi born-to-rule, dalukwanu!

Presidency is NOT the sole reason the north is backward unless you want to tell me that their backwardness started 2015 and that prior to that their zone was a paradise. Thnx!

This is bad, this shows clearly that if the South was an independent nation, the poverty rate would be 23%.

I am always a champion of one Nigeria, but if things don't change (Restructuring, Resource control, True federalism) then i might join the bandwagon of the Break up crew.

The Northern leaders need to sit up and tackle this mess squarely. angry angry
