And there have been pandemic in recent years that's been named after the country/city they broke out. E.g Spanish influenza, Great Plague of London, Great Plague of Marseille, Russian flu etc. So You better stop this mentality that there's something against Africa.

The renaming is a part of the process. Formal identification with a universal name aids communication and coordination.

Like you said, there are other viruses in the group. This naming allows for specificity.

The next logical step will be to devise rapid diagnosis, which will help clear quarantine areas and allow life return to normalcy while only infected people are isolated. Once that is achieved, the paranoia is at an end.

Actually, I think China has done a good job to contain the Virus in Wuhan and it's environs, just one or two cases have been reported in Europe, America. Hopefully it can be put to an end soon.
