RUGA is the solution

Since the return to democracy in 1999, Nigeria has been grappling with diverse security challenges, chief among them are insurgency, election violence, kidnapping and most recently, the herder-farmer conflicts among others. The north central states of Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa and other states have experienced conflicts that led to thousands of deaths and displacements as a result of clashes between pastoralists (herders) and local farmers in several communities. In January 2018 alone, Amnesty International reports indicate that 168 people were killed as a result of herdsmen-farmer clashes.1

Struggle over grazing land and scarce resources have over the years resulted in perennial and growing violent conflicts in terms of frequency, intensity and geographic scope. Underpinning the escalation in frequency of conflicts in Nigeria is a confluence of environmental and demographic forces, especially desertification caused by climate change and population explosion. Expectedly, with the depletion of arable land for subsistence farming largely as a result of increasing urbanisation and the adverse effect of climate change, especially along the Lake Chad basin, there is increased struggle between herdsmen and farmers – leading to violent confrontations and conflicts, deaths and forced displacement, as well as the destruction of agriculture and livestock. Renewed Herdsmen Attack on Kwande Communities.

Kwande Youth Council Worldwide wish to drag the attention of Federal Government on the renewed attacks on Kwande communities by Fulani herdsmen. The attack that was witnessed last night had not less than five persons dead with tens of people wounded.

We wish to state that while there is a military presence in Adikpo, the headquarter's of Kwande doing nothing other than extorting money from motorists, the hinterlands/ people of Turan are left without security presence to protect lives and properties.

As a matter of urgent, the council call on the deployment of the military base or camp in Adikpo to Turan to help restore peace in the area.

We appreciate Bob Tyough, member Kwande/Ushongo at the federal house for his swift response calling on the attention of the house on the killings.

Mr Governor what are you doing with your security vote? It's not everything I'll blame PMB. Your responsibility is to secure life and property of the Benue people. Other Governors are waking up from their slumber, all you do is Attack Apc and the presidency but these guys didn't make you Governor the Benue people did. You fought with the last drop of your blood to become Governor but you can't do the same to protect your people. Shame on all of you. Karma will come for all of you I don't want to insult your children because they're innocent but anyone who's stealing money meant for security for his personal gains must face it's own music sooner or later.

Don't bring curse on you and your family!!! You think karma is a joke?
What's happening in the entire Middle belt especially Benue is as a result of the karma effects of the role they played for the fulanis against the Igbos during the civil war. The same masters they helped to massacre the Igbos returning all the way from northern Nigeria are the same butchers slaughtering them like piece of meat.
But you, don't allow yourself to become an instrument for the realization of karma because the cycle continues and you won't like the outcome.
