RUGA is the solution

Since the return to democracy in 1999, Nigeria has been grappling with diverse security challenges, chief among them are insurgency, election violence, kidnapping and most recently, the herder-farmer conflicts among others. The north central states of Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa and other states have experienced conflicts that led to thousands of deaths and displacements as a result of clashes between pastoralists (herders) and local farmers in several communities. In January 2018 alone, Amnesty International reports indicate that 168 people were killed as a result of herdsmen-farmer clashes.1

Struggle over grazing land and scarce resources have over the years resulted in perennial and growing violent conflicts in terms of frequency, intensity and geographic scope. Underpinning the escalation in frequency of conflicts in Nigeria is a confluence of environmental and demographic forces, especially desertification caused by climate change and population explosion. Expectedly, with the depletion of arable land for subsistence farming largely as a result of increasing urbanisation and the adverse effect of climate change, especially along the Lake Chad basin, there is increased struggle between herdsmen and farmers – leading to violent confrontations and conflicts, deaths and forced displacement, as well as the destruction of agriculture and livestock.
So Jubril El sudani aka buhari has sent you here to campaign for RUGA. U no go die well ooo

LACK OF EDUCATION, BAD-BLOOD RELIGIOUS INSTINCT, POLITICAL SENSE OF OWNERSHIP, GOVERNMENT BACKED INSECURITY ARE FINALLY TEARING DOWN THE TOGETHERNESS CAPACITY OF NIGERIAS. SO SAD TO READ AND SEE THE WAY FELLOW NIGERIANS WASTE HUMAN LIVES VIOLENTLY AS THOUGH THEY WERE ERADICATING MOSQUITOES OR BUTCHERING BUSH MEAT.

I didn't justify what fulani herdsmen are doing. What I mean is that their way of survival is thru cattle rearing, due to urbanization and climate change push them deeper into the south. And the conspiracy is they came to take our lands. Fulani herdsmen don't care about lands...

If they don't care about lands, they should stay put in their region. Even the so called arrogant Fulani leaders walked out on a peaceful meeting in Anambra cos they questioned why their people carry AK47 in broad daylight. Does cattle rearing require sophistaced weapons?

They are bandits.

Fulanis can do no wrong. I am sure it is IPOB that is a terrorist organization, but this is done by bandits, bandits, bandits.

RUGA means give your land or you are murdered by bandits.

Well, I think this is even fake news according to APC.

And to think that these people who lost their lives and that woman whose brain matter is showing due to that huge gash on her skull have a governor and representatives at both federal and state levels.

I am tired for Benue youths.

They should mobilize in their thousands and burn down their state house. Their governor is definitely useless.

Govt Propagandist have invaded Nairaland to divide us and dilute our voices against subjugation and wanton oppression. Personally as a democrat , I do welcome their opinion which are not well thought through and lack meaningful cognitive box to box processing, just because it is milled through the Anal crevices.

U see them championing Ruga..and as a justification for the killings In Benue Axis. We are fully aware of your mission here, state Agent.

The so called herdsmen are not the owners of the cattle they move around with, we all know this. So, whether or not they care about lands isn't the issue but how the government is fighting tooth and nail to sell RUGA to Nigerians.

The question here is:

1. Why isn't Miyetti Allah and other cattle stake holders focusing on ranching?
2. Why does RUGA, a government initiative seemingly favour a cow rearing group that does not contribute nothing close 5% of our IGR? Where is the wisdom in spending taxpayers' monies on a group of people whose trade are solely private?
3. How about we talk about the sophisticated weapons they move around with and the military support they get?
