Another paid publicity effort.

So you people realised she had hypertension, sugar issues and still discharged her. Fake incompetent morons everywhere.

The Enugu state government is doing very laughable efforts at damage control.

Okay. Let us reason together. Your story no add up.

She is 70, she just came back from UK (as old woman, the family can afford to take care of her, fly her out, spent 6 months only to come back and died).

Particularly, this statement ''had hypertension, sugar issues and kidney diseases which were poorly managed'' bla bla bla.

She survived all the 'Poorly managed' disease but died after visiting una hospital?

You guys are not dealing with morons I beg!

Why do you have to put up this baseless epistle just to defend an institution we all know is not working well all over the country.

People die in govt hospitals everyday due to lack of proper mgt of ailments.

It's not incompetence per se but unethical and downright immoral. Most will refuse to treat without payment, most will take shortcuts that could lead to serious injuries or death. This is why no matter the level of education and experience as a medical doctor in Nigeria, once you get abroad you still have to pass the board exam and some additional education/training before you are allowed to practice.

If only you knew the half of what goes on in the abroad, where they make us, "mere international medics" to pass their board exams before practicing, you would cower down. Nigeria did not place a monopoly on questionable ethics or fatal mistakes. In fact, we got our idea of having mortality reviews from these abroad people. And payment is done upfront too, if correct procedures are not taken to qualify for free treatment, or covered by insurance...which invariably takes us back to the little tools we have at our disposal that we must work with....we could go round and round these issues all day. The entire system just needs to work better, is all.

“It is disheartening that when we expected her and other family members of the woman, to show gratitude to the state government and the medical personnel for accepting to treat their rejected mother, under such intense panic and anxiety over the suspected spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the state, it was not forthcoming

A state where one is expected to show gratitude for even being accepted for treatment at a government hospital?

I've lived in the USA almost half my entire life, I not only have doctors in the family and friends but I've been privileged to work with 5 or more. The thing with abroad is that if you know what you're doing you would have no problems passing the board exam. Payment is done upfront? You mean someone with an emergency gets to fill out paperwork and payment info. before receiving treatment? I don't know which of the abroad you're referring to but most definitely is not USA or UK. The only point you made that is applicable here is that government needs to do more to ensure insurance or free treatment programs are available to those in need.

Someone came back healthy from the uk and they say she was in a bad state and rejected by federal hospitals only confirms the stigmatization the gal talked about. How she was now treated at ESUT is the mystery we need to uncover.

The useless hospital is now asking for gratitude for keeping her mother is a shabby and ill equipped isolation center while trying to wash their hands clean of her demise. Imagine the audacity

Further investigation launched into the deceased patient's history on Wednesday by Igbere TV, showed that the woman was well taken care of at the Isolation Centre and discharged by the health workers before her demise.

While refuting the claims that the Enugu Isolation Centre was not up to standard (as being alleged via viral photos on social media), the health workers said the late woman did not complain of neglect “as the whole health-care workers were with her until the time of her death.”
