I think the pastor was right.

The church is made up of both literate and illiterate congregants.

Those who came for service might not have been aware of the situation on ground.

so churches like mfm, rccg do not have illiterate congregants, rubbish excuse, if there is an outbreak in ota, we know who is responsible

if oyedepo didn't hold service on Sunday he I'll miss a lot of money

I am not bothered about any tithe or offering but going to this length to disobey government orders shows how irresponsible he is and does not care about the masses.
Why not tell them to stay at home and make their prayers to God, even tho there are some illiterates that are not aware or can't connect with the online service

Right ko rice ni. Why can't the church put security guards at the gate to stop and inform people of the reason why they cannot enter? No excuse for that pastor. He supposed to be prosecuted

If Oyedepo could lie so blatantly on something we can all see, imagine all the other lies he's told over the years.

The CofO of Canaan land should be revoked, the land acquired and Faith Tabernacle should be used as the major state facility for treating patients of Coronavirus.

the Church is made up of both literate and illiterate congregants; not everybody is updated with the situation at hand nor have internet access or other acess to be properly informed.

Please this huge criticism of the church should stop. Not all churches deserves the criticism.

That is a very dumb excuse.
How can you sensitize people by bringing all of them into one enclosed space? Why can't you sensitize them online or send text messages?

I have said it before and I'll say it again. This virus will spread not because it's contagious. It will spread because of the actions of stupid people.

They didn't ask those people to come. Prior to Sunday, circulars had gone round that service won't be holding at Canaanland. But some persons apparently still showed up.

The church consulted CAN on the appropriate course of action to take. CAN rationalised that the people obviously have no idea about the virus ravaging the country, and that the church may as well use that medium to sensitize them. Note also that Canaanland church auditorium is very large... and there were less than half of the usual congregation on the premises that day... so the spacing was effectively done.

That's what happened... and not that they deliberately made plans to hold a service.

Churches are being closed cos they contribute nothing to the containment of this virus. Govt and the elites know that those their healing miracles are jokes and scam. That's why no one looks up to the church for the solution of this pandemic.
Las las it has proven that sanitizer is stronger than anointing oil, face mask better than mantle, social distancing better than church gathering.
This is the beginning of the end of religion

You lie!
I guess social distancing is also better than education, as all schools have been closed.
Be there writing nonsense. You will realise your folly some day.

Shut the gate, fine. But remember that the real point of discouraging gatherings was to keep everyone safe. If those people are turned away at the gate without them realising the real reason, then the purpose has been defeated.

Those people will put themselves at risk in other ways.

This is the beginning of the end of religion

It's dawning of the beginning of the end of religion for a short time. But it also signals the reign of the wicked for a short time. And then they'll be cut off for eternity when Jesus returns to reign for 1000 years. One thousand with the resurrected saints.
HE WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS BEST.

But actually, there'll still be religion. The nations will worship the Antichrist/Beast (One World Religion) for 3 and half year until he is cut off.

I think this press statement has settled it. The service was not intended on exposing congregants to dangers, but an avenue for sensitizing them on better ways of maintaining safety. Very very interesting.
what sort of nonsense are you saying? This is not the age where we have to gather to get information, I bet you, 98.72% of those living in the southern region already knows about corona. I do not think he did it cos of the offering but to show he is above authority. To obey is better than sacrifice

For this dirty excuses, it shows where our politicians gotten their trick from. If religious outfit can not make a simple apology without given stupid and lame excuses. What happened to the way you do ask them to come for your different programmes? The other religious ventures that announced their members to stay at home? It look stupid to be even defending your stupidity.

You were not there so SHUT UP.

the Church is made up of both literate and illiterate congregants; so even if messages were sent online or by test telling members not to come to church..some would still not be informed.

CAN gave a directive not to send people(Illiterates) who attend service back home..instead the church should use the platform to educate them about the happenings in the country...the church should also use the opportunity to teach them on how to stay safe, sanitize and avoid social gatherings.

And in accordance with this directive, this is what Winners chapel did..with the government social distancing regulation observed alongside sanitizing as well.

Almost half of Winners normal congregation didn't attend...so I see no wrong in this.

The government owe us an apology for not shutting our borders and closing our airports on early enough to detect this from entering here.

DSoj:
Arrogant liars.. and Oyedepo came to church in suit well prepared for the service... why didn't they tell the people to go back that they were complying with govt directive and guidance?

LIARS!

People be looking for the slightest opportunity to harass the church like they are the cause of their frustrations or current position in life

Even when there was nothing like corona virus people still found one thing or another against the church. So their rant is nothing new. They must talk

Good clarification from the special assistant

For those looking for apology. Go to the front of the church, hold up placards and demand for apology
grin only God can intervene on issues like these, church is the safest place to hide from dangers in life. Only children of God can relate.

Lies. So, the church could not put up a public address system at the entrance in order to explain things and send the worshippers back home. We understand dt offering and tithes must be collected and nothing else matter.

So, no illiterates in MFM and RCCG?

If your answer is that there are illiterates, then swallow your claim that the church is right
