Personally, I didn't come into the world with my ethnic group and I won't leave this world with it. I believe we all should desist from creating threads like this.

I disagree with you. We were not born into our ethnic groups by coincidence, and whether we like it or not, we will always be identified by the world around us by our ethnic group.

Well you have your own reason. Although to me, it is a fruitless effort ithout much advantage to start trying to lay claim to people that some of them don't want to identify with you.

Take a cue from the Yorubas for example, the people of Itsekiri sometime claims that they don't want to identify with us and the Yorubas already stopped bothering about them. Although some of them want to, but others don't feel like.

One think I thank the Yoruba ancestors for is about fighting a war of consolidation among the Yorubas (Ekiti, Egba, etc.) and making sure we unite as one Yoruba entity forever. All other Yoruba sub-group like Itsekiri etc. already owned their destiny, they should be allowed to own their new identity without interference.

If you don't unify them in those past days, I am sorry it will be very hard to unify them in this age.

That is my own line of contribution to the thread.
we are never going to do something because yorubas are doing it
It has never happened before...it will not start now. You can deny yorubas outside south west or accept them...it's non of our business. Our destiny and realities are not the same

Etche and Omuma are one ethnic group called Etche.
Calling Omuma an ethnic group is like calling Emohua an ethnic group, because they are not part of an LGA called Ikwerre LGA.

I agree with you on Ijaw being the major ethnic group in Rivers state, even the Engenni in Ahoada West identify as Ijaws.
Lol I didn't call Omuma an ethnic group, I called it an LGA lol... I don't even want to dabble into their ethnic listing there BUT I'm just educating the fellow of the spread in Rivers state

Rivers is not an Ijaw state but by LGAs, population and vote spread, Ijaw constitute the largest (10 ½ LGAs) next to Ogoni (4 LGAs). The so called Ikwerre has just 3½ LGAs, Etche has 1, Omuma has 1, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni all share 1, Oyigbo 1.

The reason Ikwerre is still on the saddle is because of the political differences that Wike benefitted from.

Now lemme tell you, the entire 3½ Ikwere LGAs share same senatorial district (Rivers Southeast) with just 2½ Ijaw LGAs (Okrika, Ogu/Bolo) alongside Omuma and Etche. while Rivers West has 8 LGAs, 6 are Ijaws and 2 are non Ijaws. In Rivers southeast, of the 7 LGAs, 2 are Ijaws, 4 Ogoni while 1 Oyigbo.

Ijaw is the ONLY ethnic that has at least 2LGAs across the 3 zones in the state.

Ijaw has the highest number is LGA
Highest number of Wards
Highest number of HoR
Highest number in HoA

And presently occupies 2 out of the 3 Senatorial seats in the state

Let us learn to speak with facts!

BTW Rivers is not an Ijaw state... We are all stakeholders including non indigenous residents of the state
these fancy dreams of yours you will wake up from grin

Rivers is more of Ijaw state than Igbo.
The Kalabari, Andoni, Opobo, Bonny,Okirika, Nkoro, are all proud Ijaws.

Only Oyigbo and to an extent Egbema (Many here are now becoming Igbophobic) are Igbos.

Ijaws actually are the single biggest ethnic group in Rivers state.

Pazienza dont allow your feeling of being hurt by the post war generation of Igbos deniers in Rivers get the best of you.

Lies can be dispelled and their claim cannot hold water.

They answer Igbo names.

All the people featured above are alive and you can even go on youtube and listen to them tell you they are Igbos.

They are the visible leaders in Rivers State today.

The name of the place is Idu now refered to as Bini.

I recently met an Ashanti man that told me the Ashanti are Igbos.

Look Igbos have a very broad origin and Diverse.

This is the bold truth my brother.

Even Bayelsa State has none ijaw ethnic group, same with Anambra having Igala.

Anambra State is an Igala State, they own 85% of the State. When the right time comes, Igalas will claim their State.

Did you know that Andoni, Opobo (Opu Obu) and Nkoro refused to join Rivers province and instead remain in Owerre province. The people of Abonima, Buguma and Kalabari were regarded as saboteurs by the Ijo in Rivers State during Nigeria/Biafra war.

Nwanne, Ikwerres were part and parcel of that abandoned property saga. They even brag about it.
Men like "Bekee" and other Ikwerres benefitted from Igbo abandoned property.
Stop holding brief for those lots.
The Ijaw did nothing to Ikwerres, Ikwerres are responsible for their own actions. Rivers state was planned without Ikwerreland and other Igbo speaking groups in Rivers as part of it, but the likes of "Oriji" (google about him, he was a very Igbophobic Ikwerre man) gate crashed on the Ijaw Rivers state, seeking inclusion. Ijaws out of greed and seeing opportunity to expand their own territories, accepted the offer, which was also good for the FG who were happy to see off the balkanization of Igboland.

The Ogbako Ikwerre, the apex sociocultural Ikwerre organization have consistently maintained they are not Igbo. I posted the video of Ogbakor Ikwerre convention in Atlanta USA where Celestine Omehia and Ogbakor Ikwerre elders were mocking and cajoling Ndiigbo about the Biafra war thing.
If I find the video, I would post it to you.

If you live in PH, especially in those Rumu villages as an Igbo man, you will witness first hand the harsh realities of Ikwerre hate for Ndiigbo. If you can't visit those Rumu villages, you can at least join Ikwerre facebook pages and interact with them. You will be heartbroken and you will witness an Igbophobia more concentrated than what any other Nigerian group can muster, if you join those Ikwerre pages. I bet you, your life and perception of Ikwerre and their co travellers will never remain same after that experience, it's an eye opener.

Bros, you are correct however not everybody from Ikwerr was goofed. Oriji and Biriye were the two arrowhead on Gowon good ears to create Rivers State. However things went terribly wrong for the Ikwerr people. Most of them were caught in a bad headlight. Diete-Spiff's government in exile had Igbo guys who promptly resigned from it. Any Ikwerr or Ika or Ukwuani person who denied his or her Igbo ancestral lineage has a Yoruba person as either a mother, wife, In-law or a friend.
