erico2k2: Nigerian schools do still produce PhD's. The problem is funding. Education budgets are usually in the region of 1-2 billion dollars US...to be shared among 70 universities, secondary schools and primary schools. (while foreign universities have spending budgets in the tens of billions...which means they can fund facilities for research, which attracts more private and public funding) The problem is further compounded by fees being kept very low...$300 and below...(because we are an oil producing country)..which makes matters worse. |

Use part of that money, buy chemical to produce sanitizer. Get sales boys and girls. Market it for the period this Coronavirus trends. Make a lot of money. At the end, you will make enough money that you'll shocked at. Finally, add the profit to that N16m capital. Then it will take u a long way during ur programme cos I know N16m alone won't be enough for that 3yrs. 2 Likes |

being: Yes, I am also worried about this ROI. Every step I take now, I always consider my gains. It made me pessimistic a lot though. I am also concerned about T-Bills? Does 16M actually make 2M for you in 1 year, I really doubt that. Maybe you can enlighten me more because the Interest rates I calculated a year ago wasn't that much. |

Trello:. If you get TETfund, then it is cool. Like previous commenters, with 16M you're likely to be stranded. UK is good, but you can seek some other options even if it is partial funding. 1 Like |

kikero: He should have started his search from the US, if he doesn't see, he tries Japan, Germany, Netherlands or South Korea before the UK. I really doubt there's any research that cannot be conducted in the US that is done in the UK. Seriously, I doubt so. If the US doesn't conduct such research (wild guess in the automonous driving or advanced engineering), then Germany or Japan is his best bet. Certainly not the UK. What does the UK know in engineering or hard sciences research? Sixteen million is quite a lot of money to spend on a PhD let alone in the UK. Nevertheless, his money anyway. 1 Like 1 Share |

wether it his story is true or false, my thing is you want to spend $43,000 to acquire an academic certificate to become a certified slave working for someone else OR becoming a teacher in one school, and still prone to taking orders, run around and getting fired someday - on top of your hard earned money that was given away for tuition INCLUDING your valuable time spent on reading the ideas of other men tucked in books? my brother - please i beg you in the name of God, sit down and think of a good business you can start easily with $10,000 and keep the remaining $33,000 in your account. If and when you break even - then apply another $10, 000 from your reserves to shore up your business. so before you exhaust half of that money you will be better positioned for life and there will be no regrets those who spent their own $43,000 to go to school for PhD will come applying in your company to be your employee in 10 years time, and they will be praying u give them a chance to be your slave. i know you want to have PhD at the end of your name but do remember, when you succeed in business and you become a philanthropist, universities will line up to give you doctoral degrees (honoris causa) even the great Azikiwe was not a PhD holder but he got his own doctoral as a honorary degree, and he was called Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe until he died. Mike Zuckerberg was a Harvard drop out- when he got rich through facebook, the same Harvard he dropped out from as an undergraduate gave him a honorary doctoral degree. Go figure! never aspire to be an employee all your life, nobody can ever pay you what you are worth - Rich Dad, Poor Dad 5 Likes 1 Share |

It will take you at least 15years to earn the equivalent of the future value of the amount if you are employed as a lecturer in a Nigerian after the study. So to me it's not worth it. Trello: |

Trello: In the present circumstances, #16 million might not be enough to see you through your 3 years PhD with tution, living expenses and other incidental costs. In the alternative, I will suggest you beam your search light for PhDs in the U.S. You will find a lot of them fully funded. With a well crafted Statement of purpose you will most likely get an admission in the States. All the best. 1 Like |
