[s]You're sense.less! Will they use your ass to fund research? Where were you when the government refused to adequately fund education? Even Muoghalu touched on that. Direct your comment to the government who has refused to fund education and health adequately. The professors and healthcare professionals in Nigeria are capable, but are not motivated through adequate remuneration and proper funding of health and education[/s].

That’s a man I crave to call my president, but crass mediocrity must always get in the way.

Moghalu is eminently qualified to be president, but he can never be president

A highly educated Igbo Christian man? Nobody in the North will ever vote such a person no matter what he has to offer

I still don't understand how Nigerians neglected a competent havard grade professor and elected a mentally tired man for president. Where does this happen

In a country where majority of the voting population are imbecilic dimwits, while of the minority, a huge chunk are embarrassingly and shamelessly bigoted...

Please, tell me how hard it can be to easily tell the kind of leaders such a nation will keep having??!...

Wash your hands off this contraption... I long did!!!

Unfortunately and sadly, Nigeria can never ever transform, modernise or industrialise into a modern society some of us are yearning for without absolutely political restructuring.

Is a universal knowledge that political restructuring spur economic restructuring, strong governance institutions, rule of law, ethics, law & order etc.

In this time of national emergency, all of the above will be tested..... and lets watch where is going to lead Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

Nigeria lacks capacity, capabilities, resources, efficiency and of course productivity in all sectors.... all due to extreme weak institutions(political corruption)emanating from the kind of political tragedy the country have being experiencing since after Independence.

The least this country can shoot for now at this time of emergency is efficiency that can lead to some kind of productivity..... and this can only be achieved through micro regional management.

Osibanjo's new economic way of thinking must emphasize some aspects of this thinking or you go the Chinese communist party way.... but for you student of history, it took the execution of Charles the First by the Parliament in the beginning of the 18th century that ushered in the industrial revolution in Britain. On the other hand, Stalin slaughtered 3 million Russians to transform Russia from agricultural base society to industrial one... investing massively in steal production and Fabrications.

For me, regional government NOW!!.

Mister man, you're more sense.less. What has the universities done with the little the government has given them?

There are so many interventions from the federal government to federal universities but what do those in charge do with such funds?

You still talked about the little the government gave them, while adequate funding is what is needed to produce effective results. That's why you're sense.less. Check how education and health are being funded in other countries. You're not making any sense at all. Have you checked if those interventions fund research? You just talked because you have mouth, while you left your brain elsewhere. Why is the ASUU on strike? Have you been to our federal universities to see how delapidated their laboratories are? Name those so many interventions you talked about.

My friend shut up your mouth and stay the hell outta my mentions.

So you think those old lecturers in ASUU has the interest on Nigerian students at heart because they are always ready to go on strike?

They are mostly fighting for their interests and not that of the students.

Some federal schools with research labs set up by tetfund and other federal government agencies, what have they used it to achieve?

If you know the level of corruption in these federal schools you'll keep shut.

Fine, they are not getting enough from the government but the little they are getting is being embezzled anyway

You were not able to give cogent reasons here. So, you didn't make any point. I was waiting to see those so many federal interventions you mentioned earlier, but you only stated one. Why not go to those federal universities and see those laboratories set up by tetfund and others? You talked like someone who has never seen the four walls of a tertiary institution.

God bless you abundantly. You are realistic and am sure you are not based in Nigeria or must have travlld abroad before.
Maternal mortality in Nigeria is so high for the poor and average, people do special thanksgivings for survival of a mother and child.
Look at how our government and rich people are donating billions and millions as if they have been deaf, dumb and blind to notice the constant decline and epileptic happenings in the public health care and educational systems in Nigeria.

manontree:
Good points. Especially the removal of bans on importation of certain items. And replacing the ban with higher tariffs. This is how the UK does it with alcohol and tobacco

Spending 1% of our consolidated funds on healthcare and education is a brilliant idea, backed by law. However, who is to say that those entrusted with this wont loot it. We have a corrupt culture and no matter how much is released to us, the money would line private pockets. Good idea though

On COVID 19, it is my view that a 30 days quarantine enforced by police and the army as you wrote, is part of the elite saving corpulent behaviour we have witnessed since this crises began. Kingsley, you are worried the poor, many of whom cannot afford to survive if locked down for 7 days let alone 30 days, would continue to be up and about, and infect your precious you and your people

You are scared they would jostle and smash you and your elite precious egg nest. You are willing to use all form of strong arm tactics to ensure your survival, along with your fellow elites residing in your mansions laden with enough goodies to last you a year. Sadly Mr Kingsley, the over 70% of people in Nigeria whom you want soldiers and olopa to beat back into their homes, dont have such privilege. They cannot afford to stay indoors for 30days otherwise they and their kids would die of hunger

You and your fellow elites made this so. You people stole their commonwealth together. Impoverished them. They die everyday of preventable illness like malaria lass fever, hepatitis, HIV, etc because they are too poor to pay for healthcare and you and your mates have continually looted funds meant to improve the health services in nigeria

So comes Mr COVID 19. A plague that can equally afflict the rich like you. For the first time you guys are jittery and scared. These poor people without a means to support themselves can come into your homes as cooks, plumbers, maid etc and infect you and your type. You are donating billions to fight it. None of you had deemed it fit to donate billions to fight lassa fever or malaria..disease of the poor and even common maternal mortality

Yeah right. Now you want these poor people to stay home for 30 days on a fathom N20k they wont even see. They can't oga Kingsley. They cannot. We are all in this mess together

We die here
