Sometimes, some Christian bro are the architect of their own downfall. I'll tell you why and how. You will see a true Christian bro, who has been set apart for God's work looking in the wrong direction for a spouse or obviously going for a runs or wayward girl due to her physical appearance/attraction. And then he tries to change her by telling her to stop wearing this, stop doing that just to make her look perfect and suitable for him. The runs girl too, happy she's seen a permanent mugu, will adjust ( not genuinely born again) and then begin to play along until they.get married. But you know what they say about a leopard that doesn't change its skin, a runs girl will always be a run girl and later in life, she'll easily go back to her old ways because she was never really regenerated in the first place. It you're truly a born again bro or sis, don't ever make the mistake of pampering sinners into marriage. Dont try to convert someone because you want to marry them. Let them get converted first of their own accord through God. Then go through sanctification by the Holy spirit ( which is a huge process on it own) before you can say for certain this one will make a good wife and help me actualize my God given purpose in life or help in my ministry. A lot of young christian bro are deceiving themselves these days but they always reap it in the future. Imagine what that man and his ministry will be going through right now? This could destroy his ministry and even make him lose his life or even eternity. He probably forced his lifestyle on her but now she's back to what she's good at. Hmm... A word is enough for the wise. Except if you as a bro or sis was never really born again. Most girls are looking for a means to an end and so it is easy for them to adjust their life style so the unwary bro can wife and take care of them in the mean time but when it time to support the ministry of the so called bro, they weary out easily because that was not their purpose (to support the husbands ministry) but to get a temporal relief from societal and financial pressure at the time. The Bible says, by their fruits, you shall know them. These sisters and bro are not always blind to this things but because of the lust of the flesh or material things, they go ahead feeling "I can change her/him" see the case of Samson. Samson is a very good biblical example here. Once you're set apart for God's work, you can't but stay and chose according to the will of God. successmatters: Let me correct you in the love of Christ. Read your Bible and get wisdom; salvation is a process, sanctification is a process, regeneration is a process. They all take time. Why do u think patience is a fruit/result of the infilling of the Holy spirit? The blood of Jesus is the solvent for sin BUT it takes time and a process. For anything that will happen over a passage of time, you will need a lot of patience, proving Indeed that the Holy spirit is working in you. The OP is right on all counts. The theological line of reasoning on the part of the Christian brother he spoke of was in error. This was why he ended up with a runs girl for a wife in the first place. He was focussed on fleshly cues while looking for a Christian wife. He was also trying to do the work of the spirit himself by forcing her to conform to his ideals of a Christian wife. Another error. Needless to say that the spots on a leopard are a component of its DNA, our character flaws are not exactly part our DNA system but are human weaknesses we have fed and maximised over the course of time. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness and deals with our sin only when we feel disgusted with our sinfulness. When we CONFESS our sins (say and feel the same way God feels about it), we activate the sanctification process. The blood of Jesus through the Holy spirit frees us from sin by first convicting us of it or having us see that sin is destructive to us and displeases God. All this takes time. Therefore the proverbial leopard spot doesn't just jam the blood of Jesus and sheds. No. They get cleansed over time until they are invisible. The woman in question hadn't gone through this and the brother was unaware that this was an important cue (given his scriputural beliefs). Had he had a talk with the OP first, he probably wouldn't be regretting his decision today. |

Salvation comes upon us the moment we make a decision (genuinely) to turn from our sinful ways and accept Jesus as our Lord and savior. At that point salvation is instantly given. Like you rightly said, sanctification is a process which takes time to shed our old habit or adamic nature so we can be presented spotless, fully regenerated and Holy to God on the day of rapture. This which is done by the Holy spirit to those who will yield themselves after salvation. |

I thought it's only the Holy Spirit that can know who is truly born again and has full dedication. Remember also that situations can make ANYONE backslide, even those that were not runs girls, I mean those who married as virgins and remained faithful for 20 years with their husbands. successmatters: You too can also know a genuine born again through the help of the Holy spirit and prayers. Pray, that is why you're a Christian and stop being a baby Christian that still needs to be fed with milk. Now talking about backsliding, this takes us back to what I was saying that some people were never really born again but claimed to be just to deceive others and get some benefits. And so it is easy for them to backslide. Now to be genuinely born again, God has to chose you and not man or you yourself, and that is the only time it will be difficult for you to backslide. That is why God says in John 15:16 "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit--fruit that will last--and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you." And Jesus also said in John 20:39 " John 10:29, NIV: "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." So anyone who backslided was never truly repented or chosen by God. They only disguised for a while. Time shall always tell. Just like this pastors case. May God not let the list of the flesh lead us to eternal damnation. For what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul.? |

Let's be scripturally accurate and have sound doctrine 2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be HEIRS of salvation? Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Look at these 4 verses carefully. Salvation = our souls/life getting saved. Saved from what? From death(sleeping and not rising again). Salvation comes definitively when we die by way of resurrection INTO LIFE with Christ. We INHERIT/OBTAIN salvation at the end (not the begining) -;look at that boldened verse 10 times. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved(being saved - Literal translation) through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is (being - literal translation made) unto salvation. Look at these 3. The first says salvation is a gift from God and Jesus says we get it after this life when he resurrects us to life with him. The second says we were chosen to be saved and we are being sanctified/made without blemish(while alive), until salvation at the end (of the life in the flesh). Look at it this way. At the begining, you hear the gospel and the Holy Spirit convicts you of your sinful nature and you accept/agree with Him and believe with your heart that you need salvation(when you die) so that you won't resurrect into judgement after this life. This kick-starts your CONVERSION or SANCTIFICATION. Then over the course of the rest of your life, the Holy Spirit will be helping you put away all your sinful ways one by one until you are without blemish and ready for immortality or salvation. By the way, this is a HARD journey that will involve much suffering. This is why I said salvation is a process/journey. There's no such thing as 'getting saved once' WHILE still in the flesh. Salvation cannot happen in the flesh because it involves literally putting away the flesh at death. Corruption will give way for Incoruption. Also, according to what u said, salvation comes when we make the decision... not quite so. Salvation begins when Christ through he Holy Spirit makes the decision. Look at what Christ did with Paul. Salvation is in His hands, not ours. What happens in the flesh rather is a back and forth process/journey meant to burn off the old self or the flesh or sin nature, after which we really put off the PHYSICAL flesh at death. This is the road/process to Salvation. Finally Think of the Israelite nation going around mount Sinai for 40 years. They didn't get to the promise land until all the generation of people who left Egypt (excepting Caleb and Joshua) all died off. This a symbol of the life of the chosen faithful in Christ. Consider. Israelite nation = you and me (believers in Christ for our salvation) Caleb and Joshua = our status as chosen of Christ and remaining with the faith until the end Promise land (flowing with milk and honey) = Salvation or immortality or deathlessness or resurrection into life with Christ. Entering into our rest from the burdensome life of being in culorruptible flesh. Going around mount Sinai for 40 years = journey of sanctification and putting to death the man of sin in us, hindering us from getting into salvation. Meditate on this. |
