We need to follow through with accountability. Report to the bank. Follow up with a police report. Get a court order to debit the fraudsters account. The bank will honour a court order. You don't expect the bank to just go chasing people who handle POS transactions. You do your part too. 1 Like |

Not only armed robbers, even SARS and the police at road blocks carry POS for their illegal extortion. I am yet to see Civil defence carry theirs, but I know I will come across that soon . I blame banks and CBN. |

yinchar:my brother stop acting intelligent in ignorance. Read the write-up. excerpt: " The process is usually the same. The robbers break into a house at night or any time of the day. And with guns held to their heads, victims are ordered to furnish their ATM cards as well as disclose their pin numbers, which are then confirmed with a PoS device before the cards are taken away. The robbers then proceed to withdraw as much cash as possible before daybreak when the incident is reported and cash with drawal stopped." 7 Likes 1 Share |

EzzyCarter: Any registered business in Nigeria can have a POS, what you do with the POS under the registered name is nobody's business and when the chips are down, the signatories to such account are apprehended. The perpetrators can be stopped and apprehended as soon as complaints are lodged in the bank and such accounts are blocked after which police and other relevant security agencies sweep into action to arrest the perpetrators. Banks should not be blamed for this, after all our politicians loot money through their accounts and Banks are not held responsible. 1 Like |

Yes I agree CBN should be blamed, they cashless crusaders are not acting it all.How can withdrawals of over N200,000 be made from POS agents without a trace. This is even worse than POS robbers . Anyone can just steal your card and PIN and make withdrawals from these agents and no one can trace it. |

It's very simple. The banks know exactly what to do. They haven't just been held accountable. I'm surprised |

EzzyCarter: Its quite simple...the cashiers of the stores ..or thier staff loan it out to the robbers at night...they just use the card to verify pins... What the bank should do is that when the pin is entered into a POS machine..a digital record should be entered to my account to identify the POS used....its just a small software tweak....but we are very stupid and lazy in this country.. 5 Likes 1 Share |

It is not negligence but complicity. Banks are complicit in the crime. POS machines are tied to certain accounts known to the deploying bank and the CBN (NFIU). They can track the fraudsters/ armed robbers if when reported by the victims. |

Infogetong: They will also look for a victim to transfer the money, those guys are real criminal . I remember a time they were using that trick, they will go to the ATM ,act as if they forget their ATM card at home or the ATM is rejecting the card and they need to withdraw urgently. The victim won't know what's happening,he or she will allow them to do a transfer into his or her account ,and withdraw it for them. The Bank will block the innocent person account, thinking he or she is connected to the person ,and that will be the end because police will be involved and he or she will have to provide the person or get arrested. How can you provide someone you've only met once? |
