PeterUdeme: Abeg Abeg make i hear word. Other languages igbos learn where they taught to them by the indigenes. Mingle with the people you learn quickly, nobody has the time to sit down to teach you language with a black board. Or you meet a language educator. I have online igbo language teachers incase u need one |

nku5:Yes we were. Before ojukwu declared Biafra, gowon had already created new states in which old Rivers State and old Cross river State were carved out of the eastern region, yet ojukwu added us to his Biafran map, I didn't read this anywhere, I watched gowon say it with his mouth when being interviewed by channels TV. 1 Like 1 Share |

Blackking98: Nope. The Eastern Region Consultative Assembly comprised of Chiefs, Elders and Representatives of all the Twenty Provinces of Eastern Nigeria met on the 27th of May 1967 and agreed to form Biafra. Till today we have never heard that Ojukwu put a gun to anybody's head Gowon heard about it and rushed to announce new states as a divide and rule tactic on the same 27th of May 1967. Gowon is a man with flaws I advise you to read up on your own 1 Like |

oyatz:staying with the Igbos in the east!! Learning their language and reading igbo books and novels... Making friends with them especially their women... Making sure you pay attention to their intonation!! My two brothers are serving senior military officers in two eastern state... I have stayed in igbo land for years before Temporarily leaving the east... When I was in the east I don't like staying with my brother in the barrack... The barrack used to be bored back then... I will just enter town to stay with my igbo friends in the town and chill all day... We do speak and interact with igbo language Staying with the Igbos, reading igbo books and novels made me a professional in speaking Igbo language!! If you see me speaking Igbo you can bet with your life that I'm an Igbo I have been to 5 igbo states And have studied their language differences, culture and mentality! 1 Like 2 Shares |

Blackking98: What the people in Rivers state and Cross River states, which Gowon created, never seem to understand even to this day, is that state creation was the process by which Gowon stole their resources and enslaved them to the North They dont seem to realise that in the old Eastern Region, the people had resource control and payed the federal government 25% derivation and kept the rest. Today, the Federal government has resource control and pays the state government and derivation has gone down from 75% to 13% What is the point of having your own state of it will lead to your oil wealth been stolen, you been reduced to s slave and making you poor? I do pity some of the minorities who were rejoicing that Gowon broke up the Eastern Region and gave them states, they were only rejoicing their enslavement and poverty 3 Likes |

Necessity. . . QED Igbos who are traders need to understand the language of their host environment in order to facilitate their trades. Yoruba people who are working in Banks, CAC, INEC and NYSC in Kano State don't understand Hausa language like the Yoruba mechanics, Tailors , Doctors or Taxi drivers in Kano. My Igbo friends in Secondary School and University were mostly from elitist backgrounds with parents who couldnt understand Yoruba language despite living in Yorubaland for upto 25 years simply because their parents were mostlty lecturers or Federal Government Civil Servants.
