i think u need to be tutored about epidemology, pharmacognosy and human anatomy. During vaccine trials, the animal with the closest anatomical orientation with human most especially mammals such as albino rat, apes and monkey are used as for studies. The outcome of their trials will determine if they could be tried on humans. The next stage is for them to look for volunteers. Once the desired result had been achieved in human/volunteers, then mass production of the vaccines begins.

If you read the article properly, you will see where it was stated that there are over 100 ongoing projects aimed at getting a vaccine and I can bet that not all are in western institutions or organisations. Regarding if Senegal or Madagascar does same, no problem. Everyone desires a vaccine quickly and no one cares about the source provided it has been authenticated to work effectively. However, the issue is when these Senegalese or Madagascans claim to have the treatment/vaccine without organising clinical trials and publications. Those are important steps in developing a vaccine or drug and if unavailable, then the scientific community will not trust your solution. Or would you prefer to be injested a vaccine that wasn't authenticated? No clinical trials conducted? To your last statement, well, it's unsurprising. The west invests more into medical research than any other region largely because she's richer than others but also, they are interested in a vaccine because it affects them and their economies. How come there hasn't been any vaccine for Lassa Fever? Why are Senegalese or even Nigerians not offering a vaccine? Or are you waiting for Bill Gates? Is any western country or institution stopping any Nigerian from developing a vaccine for Lassa Fever? And yes, the west has the right to demand that every traveller gets vaccinated.
