The Eastern Region Series : Igbo Domination Myth Part 1. by pazienza(m): 10:12am On May 12, 2020 |
Disclaimer : The aim of this series is not to win any minorities to Biafra or promote any form of Union between the Minorities in SS and Ndiigbo. The OP is "pathologically" Igbophillic, an Igbo nationalist at the very core, who wish and yearn for an Igbo only country between SE and willing and non Igbophobic Igbos in SS. It is OP ultimate belief that a heterogeneous Biafra consisting of myriads of ethnicities with conflicting interests in SS will fail, like Nigeria did. The sole aim of this thread is to expose the lies of the past 50yrs against Ndiigbo in relation to our dealings with the minorities of the defunct Eastern region, and hopefully to convince my fellow Igbos, why we are better of without any form of Union, be it in modern Nigeria or outside Nigeria , with the minorities. I want to take my people (Ndiigbo) back through time, to cross examine our parents dealings with the minorities, lessons we can learn from them, changes we can make, how much our political environment has changed, reason why we must change our approach to issues and in dealings with the minorities and indeed non Igbos in Nigeria, and how we can move on from the ashes of dead Eastern region that died 50yrs ago. If you are not an Igbo, you are welcome on board too. Feel free to quote and debate with me. This is a cross examination series, it wouldn't be worth it without debates, reactions, and emotions. This will be the first part of a hopefully five part in total. Thank you. Credit : most of the documents used for these series were sourced from Chibuzo Ihuoma (Dede Chibu) collections. Ironically, he is from Etche (an Igboid group) in modern Rivers state, a people who today don't even accept their Igbo identity. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Now, as established by by all available census in the era and reiterated by Willink commission, the minorities of Eastern region constituted 1/3 of the region population and this was always reflected in the region appointments. The Igbos were accused by latter day historical distortions emanating from non Igbo parts of Nigeria of marginalizing the minorities. We would attempt to separate facts from fictions by taking a look at the Eastern region ministerial appointment in this era and see if the minorities representation were up to 1/3 of the appointments and if they got important positions. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Good one. I think igbo should come together and decide the people their territory. You can't be having internal disagreement and want a republic. Any igboid group that decide not to be igbo needs to be left alone, if not it will keep increasing their ego 8 Likes 2 Shares |

UdechiHD: No, WhatsApp is a closed group and more elitist. A forum like NL is more open to everyone. This is the best place for this kind of orientation How I wish We, the igbos, would have a more pragmatic leader to lead us out of Nigeria. That charlatan of Ipob cant do it. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

I have a question for all of you. Why is it that this I.p.o.b campaign started during buhari's regime? Is it because of the perceived discrimination? So if an ethnic group is marginalized Because it refused to vote for a particular candidate what do they do? Do they start crying like babies? What will happen if an Igbo person becomes president in 2023 and Igbos hols major positions will this clatter for Biafra still continue? Will it? Or is this supposed liberation just for economic and political gain? 3 Likes |

pazienza:Op good one...my point is this..Since the COR separatists were igbophobic, how come they never protested against the main Igbo groups that were part of them...for instance the capital of the old ogoja province was actually Abakaliki, an Igbo town, why did they not protest for that to be actually located in Ogoja or anywhere else in Ekoid group, it means no one actually marginalized them per se 2 Likes |

Last night I went down memory lane and got more convinced that Nigeria would never progress more than it currently is. A lot of baggage weighing it down. Nigeria is a place where you can go, but will not go far. In the 70s and 80s, other tribes would pass of any label not made in America or England as "Ibo made". Ibo made was meant to be a derogatory term for substandard products (goods not from UK or US). But it inadvertently advertised the Igbo Ingenuity of what was/is possible if given required encouragement. The ingenuity of the Igbo race could not be harnessed to morph into something bigger due to successive visionless governments. Our spirit of industry was not encouraged by Nigerian government out of fear of domination and so the gang up to keep this spirit broken or low at least. 13 Likes 4 Shares |
