If you have patience. . .work with him/her to tone down the possessiveness. 
It's not a guarantee the person will actually change but if he/she does. . .lucky you.
If not. . .please find someone else, unless you're cool with the over-possessiveness.

Having a guy that gets a little "puppy love" jealous is cute but too much of it and the "playing lover/father" role is a red flag. No sure how to advise you on this (how to deal with) because if he is "over/ too much of anything", he may not be a good choice  undecided
