What did Awolowo do, he ran to Gowon to stop the liberation movement at Ore, he was rewarded with a Ministerial position, imagine Awolowo stooped low and became a Minister in a government of young Hausa-Fulani military officers that were then barely educated enough to write their names well. . Till today the South West and the rest of the South have remained subservient to the North because South West could not summon courageous to secede when the agitation was still fresh and young in the entire South.
