Kaima kept wetting her pillow with tears, when it was confirmed that Chuka, her heartthrob was leaving Lagos on transfer to Calabar. There was this fear of fast intruders, especially with the stories tied to the ladies from that part of the Country.

Chuka and Kaima had dated for a good number of years, that people see them as lovers, friends and even blood relatives. There were occasional distractions but they soon came together again without any scar.

Chuka left Lagos for Calabar on the 29th of April 1993. The first six months witnessed a good flow of correspondence and gifts. The second six months witnessed a sharp decline in communication. Chuka engaged himself in extra activities, that he had only very little time for Kaima. Kaima became so worried that it was spelt all over her. After one year, there was a total stop in communication. Chuka was wholly engulfed in another love affairs, with a girl from that part. It is said that the girls from there are very good in bed. Two years later, friends of the relationship advised Kaima to pay Chuka a surprise visit to Calabar. She took off one faithful day and arrived safely at her destination. As she knocked at the door of her man’s apartment according to the description given to her, she was welcomed by a lady, to her greatest dismay. This lady offered her a chair and without much ado,

introduced herself to Kaima. Kaima’s heart almost sank into her belly. She however remained calm as she waited for the arrival of her man.

Chuka finally returned home that day at about 6pm. As he cited Kaima, he was thrown into total confusion, not knowing the right thing to do. He began to mumble inaudible words that annoyed the girl on ground. She demanded to know who the visitor was.Chuka finally introduced Kaima as his sister but both ladies smelt foul play.

Kaima managed to spend the night there but refused to taste any food. First thing the following morning, she embarked on her journey back to Lagos.

Back in Lagos, Kaima was no longer herself. She was diminishing in health by the day. Friends and well wishers encouraged her, until she decided to move on with her life. She fell in love again and got married.

Things finally fell apart and Chuka absconded from Calabar and journeyed back to Lagos. The Efik old girl after the birth of a baby girl, began to show her real age and that did not go down well with Chuka. In Lagos Chuka began to make frantic efforts to reach Kaima, with the mind of mending fence with her. Much anxiety drowned Chuka as there was no body ready to give him any information about Kaima. After much search for Kaima, Chuka decided to visit her work place and there he found her. To his greatest disappointment, Kaima was already taken and was nursing a bouncing baby boy. It was then his turn to feel pain. Kaima was happily married but Chuka ended up in misery.
