Irrespective of the political side of the divide you are in, you guys should know when free speech is trampled upon.

Is it even legal for the telecommunications companies to have released the boys data? Was there a legal warrant for this?

This our country sef! The lawlessness and impunity is mind-boggling.
Oh Yes It Is Legal. Even The Bank Details Can Be Obtained If The Suspect Is Facing A Criminal Investigation. Banks And Telecoms Dont Easily Oblige That Unless The Investigative Body Fulfils The Requirements Which Includes Legal Documents

I am pro GEJ
NPF abeg go and arrest Malami,Akpabio,Gandollar,Ize Iyamu amongst others, these are confirm thieves, don't show your laughable, hypocritic eye services skill on this erring small boy.
Warn him,he signs undertaking that he won't do such again, then let him go,keeping him in your smelly, bedbugged, covid 19 prone facilities is against his fundamental human right and you all shall be sued for that.
Am sure that if it get to Goodman GEJ he will smile weakly and request the poor boy be released whether or not the account is criminal or not.

Before I clicked this

I was blaming the boy why he did not state it was a parody account

lo and behold, he did

Thats why I have been scared yesterday when High Court said FRSC can impound any car

I know our security agencies and over zealousness

Is Jonathan aware and did he ask for the arrest?

You clearly do not know what a parody account is

You dont

There is a popular parody account of President Buhari on Twitter, the guy did not use the full names Mohammadu Buhari, he calls his own Parosident Buhari and used a funny Photoshopped picture of Buhari dressed like a clown. Can you compare him with this one who used Goodluck E. Jonathan with his picture on suit?

There is also a Parody account of Donald Trump and the creator called it President Donaldo Trumpez using Spanish acronym, can you compare that to this one?

The suspect is not so bright.
You wanted to insult a politician and you decided to impersonate your target.

This opinion is from a charge and bail lawyer, no wonder he couldn't secure his client release.
Nigeria law forbids impersonation even online regardless of the purpose of the impersonation.

But the bail is too high for the poor boy who only wanted some attention.
His lawyer should reapply for bail adjustment.

If you had cared to read the story, you will see he clearly stated the account does not belong to GEJ. So how exactly is he impersonating GEJ?

Farki:

I read the law, first he made it known that he isn't Goodluck, anyone who thought he was is either stupid or illiterate.

He used it for jokes instead of fraud.

Jonathan and/or his aide are only doing this because they have thin skin.

The only real issue with the account is if he broke subsection C or not.

Anyways the fact that they kept him for this long really shows where the priorities of the police lie.

If you are not Goodluck Jonathan, then don't pretend to be him even with a disclaimer.
It doesn't matter whether Twitter allows it or some other country is fine with it.
Impersonation is illegal based on the peculiar nature of Nigeria.
It will be interesting to see how his lawyer prove that he didn't cause any "disadvantage" while
impersonating Jonathan.

From the news, he wasn't held, he couldn't make bail for his criminal charge.
That's his and his lawyer's problem.

Parody account is not the same as impersonation.

With parody account, there is a disclaimer. But with impersonation, you are claiming to be that person.

Yes, I know that Parody is not the same as impersonation. But,

These are my. points:
1. Many don't know what is called Parody account or difference between Verified and unverified account. I have seen many parody account online where some stupid blogger will carry it as news.

2. He was charged to court for impersonation which we all know is a lie but he will need to defend himself based on what he is charged to court for.

You will be amazed with the speed at which they were able to detect this guy and get him arrested.

But meanwhile they can't detect Shakau's Location for the past 10 years that BokoHaram has been terrorising the North.

Very useless government always flexing muscle on harmless poor masses.

Fraud is the daughter of greed. Creating a parody account of a former president. Whatever his intentions were, it's definitely gonna end up fraudulent.
Don't be stupıd. If he didn't perpetrate fraud then there is nothing fraudulent about the act. He clearly stated "this is not gej"

Anyway, the court should remove those harsh bail conditions. The boy did not loot public treasury.

Abuse of power by the police. The twitter profile is clearly not GEJ's as he makes it explicit that it's not him. Had he not done so and used it to solicit for business, then there would be a case to answer.
Would you reply the same thing if it were @MBuhari? Why didn't he use buhari? Someone used a sim card already used by buhari's daughter, and was arrested. Another made a peom about minister of information, and also found himself in prison. So, GEJ should keep quiet because of damn fucking #parody? It seems you must be reasoning from your anus.

Go and hug a nearby transformer, you slowpoke! Why did twitter created such option? Was it backed by law, to use peoples' names and photos to making comic about others? #spit

Mama Peace cannot let that boy go without smelling pepper for mocking her.

The boy forgot this is Nigeria not America where people can open parody accounts in Trump’s name and get away with it based on twitter rules.

Here the government prefers to use a hammer to squash a cockroach.

Barr Tope Akinyode is capable. He won his case and was awarded N10 million against the DSS after they illegally detained Okolie for purchasing Buhari’s daughter’s old number. He will get this boy out but the boy would have suffered sha. What a pity.

I am very sure security agents were heavily armed to arrest him. security agencies are not established to protect lives and properties but frustrate, intimidate, harass and oppress citizens. detention facilities are being congested unnecessary.

What are you saying?
It is legal for telecom companies to release call logs if police request for it especially when criminal activity has been established after obtaining a legal warrant from a court.
Twitter sure has laws concerning parody but do not forget twitter is not a state. The laws of the federal republic of Nigeria takes precedence over twitter laws as it concerns its citizens especially when an offence is committed within the shores of nigeria.
