JozzyMayana:It can be released to law enforcement if a crime was committed, but I don't see how this boy has committed any crime. GeJ only got mad because the boy was making fun of his wife which itself is not a crime. If the account had been praising GEJ, he would not have petitioned the IG. He is now using the police to harass the poor boy. 2 Likes |

donjazet: It's legal for telecoms to release your data when court or legal-backed agency ask for it Not that I'm against parody but free speech first and foremost demand that you speak on behalf of yourself not speaking or pretend to be speaking on behalf of someone else Most people may not know the difference between parody and real hence the real will be held responsible for the parody tweet |

Xisnin: Nonsense. Do you know the numbers of Buhari and Donald Trump parody accounts that exist on twitter? If a twitter account was correctly labeled a parody, how is that impersonation? Jonathan is simply being lawless here and we should not shy away from calling him out. He should free the young man and stop trying to stifle freedom of expression. 2 Likes |

sapientia:Mr man whether parody or not the boy is not wise, twitter that included the parody is in America and they know their system over there, while this is Nigeria where crime is on the very high side, why didn't he just use his name instead, instead of using someone's else own at the same time saying "my wife was the joke" if that's not impersonation then what is?. 1 Like |

poiunt: he didn't specifically need a parody account to scam.. and the more reason twitter lays the emphasis on the "user" of such account to specify that. so everyone could be well aware that he or she isn't truly dealing with the "assumed" account. |

sapientia: You have no idea. There is a difference between Twitter rules and a country's law. Following Twitter rules protect your account from being deactivated, it does not protect you from actual legal consequences. The suspect has committed a crime according to Nigeria A lawyer will be laughed out of court if he made the "parody account" argument. His lawyer knows what is at stake, that is why he is using media campaigns. 2 Likes |

No one has actually stated what the Nigerian law says about impersonation. When I have that then I can comment. I however do not expect that what applies in Yankee will apply here. 1 Like |
