pocohantas: Personally, I know what gives me away-my small onyibo accent. I don’t know how they are always able to pick it even when I speak in pidgin English. Next thing, they are telling me how I could invest in Uber and how lucrative it is. The other time one was even telling how lucrative it is to invest in security escort fleets. He advised I should buy brand new Lexus SUV along side Hilux for high end security transport. Business idea of #200M from a total stranger whom I have only met for less than 30 minutes. Maybe na my designers shoes and suit from airport that was deceiving him. 8 Likes |

Ishilove: This is sweetest thread on NL for a while, for me personally. Everywhere you go is a haysack and you're always looking for a pin. My opinion, pick the pins and forget the hay.. There is no way Nigeria can be led like this and you looking for 100% sanity. Most of the people you meet are always going to act unbalanced, swaying from the craze of their existential environment. More importantly, its the imbalance that the foreigners sees. Check Nigerians in diaspora and you'll know that the special kind of craze you get for Naija nah circumstantial craze.. 3 Likes |

sonnie10: I can’t explain it, but there is a way we always single out diasporans. Even without the accent, there is this refinery and general chill they come with. It is as if once you travel out, you realize the next person isn’t your village people, so tolerance level go increase. Lol, don’t mind them. People in business always think they have all the business ideas. Before you talk one, them done talk twenty. 5 Likes 1 Share |

I wonder why people will be rude to an Uber or cab driver? Unless the driver misbehaves or Smtn amd even at that there are decent ways to correct sm1. Interesting stories. |

pocohantas:My dear, I even decided once that it was shorts and T shirt only to blend whenever I am home. You know what? These two girls somewhere I went to speaking in one of the minority Nigerian dialects not knowing that I speak the language too. Girl 1: see how fresh this guy’ skin is Girl 2 : he must be using an expensive cream Girl 1: no now. You see the kind T shirt he is wearing. Does that look like what you see here? Girl2: I see your point. It’s fresh weather from outside. Me, just chilling and pressing my phone . |

My Uber story. I asked this guy to pick my phone charger I forgot at a friend's place and bring it to me. This dude could not read GPS map! A trip of less than 10minutes estimated at between N400-N480 took him more than an hour. he kept driving in circles and missing the right turns, despite me been on the phone several times. He claimed he didn't know the area. When finally arrived fare was N1,700. I was generous enough to give him all the cash on me which was N1200 and he tried to argue with me that uber will also charge him. My worst Uber experience. 2 Likes |
