There is huge difference BTW being intelligent and knowing how to teach, ability to teach is a talent. In Nigeria coming out with first class doesn't proof you are intelligent there is mass sorting of papers and bribing of lecturers both in cash and in kind,if you can give your body to the lecturers and sort your exam papers if their is another grade after first class they will give you.Sex for mark lecturers quickly comes to mind.

You cannot bribe or sleep your way to a first class CGPA o. I wonder why you people state such unscrupulous information online.

Are you serious? First class graduates are supposed to be academicians and are best suited to teach. What we should advocate is a good pay package for them. In Japan,teachers had the best pay that made the country to rise to one of the most technologically advanced.
Only banana republics like Nigeria treat teachers anyhow. No country can grow without quality teachers.

No, they are not supposed to be academicians or teachers. It should be a thing of interest. I agree with posters that opine that being a first class graduate does not equate to being able to teach. Teaching requires a different level of intelligence especially emotional which isn't available in everyone.

Why is everyone surprised. Nigeria is a country where:
1. First class graduates end up as teachers/Lecturers.
2. Second class upper/Lower graduates end up working in good company, Firms. e.t.c.
3. Third class/Pass graduates end up as CEO and owners of companies, Banks, Businesses e.t.c.
4. While the school dropout end up as politicians. And every classes queue under the sun to vote for them.

Mention two notable companies in Nigeria whose founders graduated with a third class in the university?
