The Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA, has offered clarification on the twin duplex demolished by the agency at the Eziokwe Street, Nike Lake Area of the State.

It said the property, which belongs to one Arch. John Emejulu was demolished by the agency on Friday in compliance with a valid court order, having been found to have been erected on waterway, which posed health risk.

Emejulu has been in the news after he destroyed the perimeter fence of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu

Executive Director and chairman of ECTDA, Mr. Ken Onoh, who spoke on the development, Saturday, said the building was brought down owing to a valid court order and not any form of reprisal.

A court order sighted by our correspondent showed that the building was demolished for contravening health safety as it was erected on waterways and had to give way.

Onoh re-echoed the agency’s stand that “the property situated along Eziokwe Street, off Nike Lake road, Enugu, stood on a water way, needed to give way for public safety and was demolished in compliance with a valid court order after it was duly served on the occupant of the house.”

He urged the public to ignore claims that the demolition was any form of reprisal.

Meanwhile, further enquiries revealed that the building’s marking for demolition predated the destruction of the Enugu Airport fence as it showed July 8,2020, which is nearly one month before the airport fence was brought down.

Which of the story should we believe now?
Another reason may likely come up tommorow. They should just tell us the truth - we know it is a reprisal. We won't do anything, we would only wail online using our keypads.

What that man did was very wrong but did ESDC validly serve him the court order, was there room for him to appear in court to defend or appeal his summons, there is a vendetta against him but it seems he has been harassing the community for long and that over confidence made him to destroy Govt property

This is not the first time and won’t be the last time when buildings are built on a waterway. These buildings though marked for demolition are sometimes left without being demolished eventually if the owner knows the way to go about it.
If Mr Emejulu hasn’t taken that foolish step of domilishing the airport fence, probably his house wouldn’t be demolished. Come to think of it, his house wouldn’t be the only building on that water channel, but only his house was demolished in the news.

The man was marked to be roasted, yet he was using petrol as ointment. His stupidity has killed him.

If this is true, then it is understandable

Thrash! So an ARCHITECT who is an insider practitioner when it comes to building and building practices, laws and regulations decided to build on an alleged waterway passage. Ok, let's even assume I am stupid enough to believe this, where was the building agency when they were building all the way from foundation to the roof, so they want to tell me they were not aware of the building or the architect that built it didn't get any building approval before erecting not even one but a whole TWIN DUPLEX? Mtchwwwwwww. Abeg, tell us another lie pls, dis wan no enta well grin
