Cars.... Which Were Game Changers? by Originalsly: 12:30am On Aug 20, 2020 |
Saw this by now classic car earlier today.... no doubt pampered by its owner.... standing on upgraded chrome rims ... body and paint job A+... no doubt this model car was a game changer and got me wondering which other had that effect in the industry. The car... Lexus Ls 400. By game changer I mean a car that has set the bar wayyy above others in its category at the time... causing others to make major production changes to get to that level. Lexus Ls 400 entered the luxury division which had Mercedes Benz as top dog .... wayyy on top with its huge tank like truck weight cars. The then lighter... sleeker... nimble... wayyy quicker out of the blocks and then state of the art features ... cornering ability and looks became the new must get luxury ride. Mercedes had to go back to the drawing boards in order to be competitive... others had to do same... the reason I rate the Ls 400 as a game changer. I'll also rate the Infiniti Q45... in the same division... but this one introduced luxury with speed... like a hybrid..luxury/sports. The Q45 was a speed demon in its division. And lastly... Lexus Rx 300... which was like the first SUV built from scratch as a SUV and not a modified truck or car. What's your picks? |

For me it will be the Mercedes Benz S600 W140, reasons soft close doors, double pane glass for wind sound cancellation, reverse angle indicators, pneumatic powered central locking e.t.c all these features for the 1991 model year. The W140 was obviously a game changer which set a new pace for most luxury brand makers to go by. IMHO 1 Like |
