Atouke:

Why will the availability of uranium in Akwa ibom surprise you? Uranium is everywhere in Niger republic the French have been mining it for years, so all the region bordering Niger in the north will very likely be rich in Uranium, that why the US govt. Has and airbase in Niger. To secure the uranium. The war in borono may not be unconnected to the mineral deposits of the region. Africa as a whole is very rich in minerals.
The interest of the Russians and Ukrainian in Akwa ibom should give you a clue to what might be buried under the soil of Akwa ibom. The Russians has been surveying itu LGA since the 1970 for siting a Nuclear plant. There is more to it than just the availability of rivers to cool the reactors which is the reason they always give.
There is more to the site than they are letting on.
But whatever the case is Nigeria is not ready for Nuclear power yet because we dont have a Maintenance culture, Nuclear power and lack of maintenance does not gel.
If Nigeria insists on Nuclear power, the site should not be in Akwa ibom. It should be built on the side of Nigeria that always get federal appointment and federal presence.
Wise words from a wise man

Even if the nuclear plant is sited in Abuja ,the effect of a nuclear accident would spread almost the entire Nigeria.
Then let it be sitw there...

there is a difference between evacuation zone and contaminated zone. The closer you are to the plant the more likely you would be in an evacuation zone.
Great piece again

ogbeni leave nigerian calculator statistics, I've lived in itu road/ikpa road for five years and schooled in imo state. I'm talking of reality not bullshit nigerian calculator statistics. If you wan believe that statistics you go also believe NCDC statistics. Unemployment is rife in uyo. The more you admit it, the more government will look into that. Be thinking you're doing the state good by denying the obvious, the so-called tourists planning on coming that you're trying not to dissuade, will still see it when they come. They may even instead decide to invest, employ labor and create wealth instead of coming for ordinary sight-seeing.

Akwa Ibom is d next commercial and industrial big state in Nigeria that will compete with Lagos soon. We have an international airport, an international stadium, an ongoing deep sea port able to service the several countries in the bight of guinea, several tarred federal road networks, a developing science park as a future technology hub, and several govt manufactories. The idea there is in 5-10yrs time wen most of these big projects are fully realized like the deep sea port, then many people will wish the own a spot of either residency or commercial value in uyo especially along oron rd. I have a land for sale along this strategic road from the airport in case u're interested. it's 1000sqm and 450sqm.

Nice Path to go
But did I just read uranium
Nigeria extremely blessed

I also read gravel, silica sand and limestone? grin grin

As for Uranium, I'm sure it's 'audio'. By the way, the Niger republic has been mining Uranium for more than 50 years. We also started importing petrol from them.

So what's wrong with Nigeria?
