Forget all this strategy of embezzling funds... create means of living, engage youths with meaningful job opportunities now that they are active, and in their productive years.. Many young Nigerian graduates are roaming the street daily aimlessly.... Some First class graduates are dragging chalk and pencil with kindergartens and pupils at designated primary schools... At least, 86% of those between the age of 30-35year of our youth are still living with their parents, feeds from the family pot.. Most times, I feel like weeping for Nigeria... 1 Like |

lexy2014: 1.Put some effort into it. The datasets I mentioned are available on the internet. 2. We do import tilers from Togo because their work is better quality. This is a widely known fact. And it isn't only tiling but the entire carcasse finishing, same in the tailoring industry. 3. They come here because they have a quality and skill advantage and YES we do import them for building projects. I answered elsewhere that in Afghanistan and Nicaragua two countries with worse leadership than Nigeria, exports are led by world class non mineral exports - hand made carpets and coffee respectively. What is our principle artisian non mineral but world class export? Where are the artisian guilds in Nigeria and what are their standards? The only way of making sense of our large population is for those at the base of the pyramid to make to make high quality exports. But we cant because we have a clear " please manage it like that" culture! I love my country but I will not take the easy way out by blaming leaders for burning the country down when we all abet and support them with laissez faire work culture. |

BreconHills: In d US, do their leaders create an enabling environment for the citizens? If Nigerians struggle everyday with their own meagre resources to create an enabling environment for themselves without d help of govt as acknowledged by u, how come u are now denigrating those same Nigerians& saying that they don't deserve what a pampered population gets? Can d same Americans who u claim have a higher "productive capacity" flourish in d Nigerian environment which u said Nigerian leaders have refused to make friendly? |

BreconHills: 1. I don't need to put any effort into anything. Since u have a formula & d internet as u claim, kindly use it to provide d numbers regarding d "productive capacity" of d saudis and d emiratis. 2. Nigerians don't import togolese tilers. If they were imported, they will do d job they were "imported" for& return to their country. But they are always onground moving from building site to building site usually with their underaged helps who can be paid 500 a day compared to Nigerian tilers who would collect 2500 or 3000 per day. Togolese tilers don't do better quality work than Nigerian tilers. They only charge lesser hence d high demand for them. A Nigerian tiler can charge 500-700 naira per sqm including sketting. A togolese tiler will charge 400naira per sqm including sketting. That's a lot of money saved especially if u are a developer. 3. U are asking for artisan guild in Nigeria. Where are d artisan guilds in Togo & what are their standard? Maybe u can enlighten us about their artisan guild in Togo 4. If Nicaragua & Afghanistan export hand made coffee& carpets, then u can also tell me d non mineral exports that saudis and d emiratis export. 5. In your initial post, u are d one who said d leaders don't provide d "enabling environment". Is that blaming or stating d facts? Y did u make that comment? What is d importance of an enabling environment which u mentioned? 6. D discussion wasn't about blaming. I don't no were u got d whole idea of blaming. What I asked u was this: Buhari & d rest of d political class and their families eat free food, drink free water& drinks, wear free clothes, read free newspaper, enjoy free internet & phone calls, free air and road transportation, free medical care, free electricity, free water, free security, free entertainment & DStv, free accomodation at home& abroad and several other freebies we don't even know for doing nothing. Pls who is paying for all these freebies? What is d "productive capacity" of our political class that warrants d above? |

lexy2014: Please see my point on polar arguments. It's not one or the other - it's both. Leaders are sh** and followers of opposers are similarly sh**. Both feed off the incompetence of the other. It's a toxic dysfunctional relationship. Since we cannot or will not storm the gates of Aso rock, let's fix our incompetence culture and maybe then we will be able to vote for principles and not tribe |

BreconHills: The Togolese Tilers don't go back because they have usurped the market position of Nigerian finishers. You would have to be uninformed, broke or new to the industry to use Nigerian building carcasse 'finisher' Everyone knows our " manage it like that" culture, our price goughing and poor quality of detail.Thos is not about nationalism but facing truth that can liberate us. 1. Who is talking about nationalism here? Is d issue about nationalism? People u said were "imported" are now "usurping" d market. U now contradicting urself. By saying they are "usurping" or have "usurped", u are simply saying that they are migrants. So u just talking from both sides of your mouth. Anyone "imported" to come & do work, doesn't come to "usurp". They come, work& return home. U can't be "usurping" and running around with underaged togolese kids& u say that's "importation". Since u say that u are informed, rich and old to d industry, then it's surprising that u can't differentiate between migrant workers in d industry & "imported" workers. Key question: how much do togolese charge? How much do their Nigerian counterparts charge per sqm? 2. Let's leave this here for now. Y should we leave it? I thought u are d one with stats and internet? 3. Saudi and the Emirates have developed into a leading services industry locations - competitive with Europe or America. They have done this by creating the key KPI's for each industry and mapping it to global standards. If youve stayed in Nigerias "top" hotels you will see variable standards even there not to talk of the middle market segment service industry. We are talking of "non oil exports". I honestly don't no what u are about here. What are d "leading service industry" in Saudi Arabia & d UAE that are responsible for non oil exports in these countries? And what is d productive capacity of d citizens of these countries with regards these industries? Have u stayed in Nigeria's top hotels? What has that got to do with d question I asked? What are d variable standards& what has that got to do with what I asked? 4. The enabling environment is important and I did not hesitate to pilory our leaders for not creating it. I will not be drawn into making polar arguments. Two facts can contain truth. Life is not " either or" So leaders have failed - but does this remove responsibility from the citizenry to deliver good personal standards? No. In fact should the citizenry have gotten their sh** together, bad leadership would be minimized or temporal. We are our leaders and our leaders are us. Let's fix what is within our reach and the lines will fall sweetly. I don't belong to those who make cookie cutter arguments that absolve them of personal responsibility D simple question I asked u is: "What is d importance of d enabling environment that u mentioned"? I didn't ask u all this grammar that u are speaking. It's off tangent 6. This is another question I asked: "Buhari & d rest of d political class and their families eat free food, drink free water& drinks, wear free clothes, read free newspaper, enjoy free internet & phone calls, free air and road transportation, free medical care, free electricity, free water, free security, free entertainment & DStv, free accomodation at home& abroad and several other freebies we don't even know for doing nothing. Pls who is paying for all these freebies? What is d "productive capacity" of our political class that warrants d above?" |

BreconHills: U are trying to sound balanced& bipolar but your words are betraying u& portraying d opposite of what u say u stand for. In this piece above, u are saying that there's a two sided problem, d leaders and d followers. Guess what? Your solution to d problem is a one-sided solution. Get d people to change and let d leaders keep flexing |
