Why don't you just make your comment and move on? Must you comment on what people are saying? Say what you want to say and move on. It won't help you in the future to refute your past statements. Do a survey. That masses are suffering.

Some solutions to issue.

repeal the land use act
• focus on increasing mechanized farming
• commodity exchange

All those points you listed are wonderful. But they can only be successful if:

* There is security.... No more kidnapping and robbery of big time farmers

* There is no more livestock grazing on farmlands.... Many crops have been lost to indiscriminate cattle grazing by Fulanis all over the country making many to abandon their farmlands after losing money etc

*Better coordination of farmers and their activities.

*Opening of borders for free movement of our farmers produce to neighboring countries

The most annoying thing is having to eat these useless rice with stones inside and realize you bought them at a higher price than the foreign rice. This is just rubbish.

The question is why haven't the federal government utilize the Land mass in the north to solve the Agricultural and food problem in nigeria even in Africa
Go to the north their elites are busy grabbing the land every former head of state, governors, reps, senators has a farm yet their proceeds are only for export, very expensive here

With bandits and kidnappers on rampage how is that possible?

Right now there's a form being circulated in my area, that the CBN wants to give loans to people that would want to cultivate cassava. The amount is 5M. The agents involved will tell you to apply for it together with you signing a sterling bank transfer fund that will enable them withdraw any amount from your account as soon as the money drops.
And this people are connected to very important people in this government.

So I want to believe that apc agents of this government are very poor souls, stricken with a huge curse of impoverished thinking. They keep jostling to eat blood money as if they don't have enough already.

In 2015, a bag of foreign rice sold for #7500 but in 2020 it's #25000. In same year 2015, 10kg of Golden Penny Semovita sold for #1300 but today it's #3600, etc

Indeed, Buhari is working grin

OUR GOVERNMENT SHOULD MAKE FARMING ATTRACTIVE!

Why should the price of garri and other staple food be on the rise?

Until they make farming attractive like other sectors, a lot of graduates will continue to shun agriculture for white collar jobs.

How can we be talking about food scarcity in a nation that is so blessed with vast farmlands, good weather and enormous human capacity?

We have capacity to feed the entire west Africa and become food sufficient. A lot of farmlands are left fallow across the length and breadth of this country. Why is this so?

Farming is now left for a small population of mostly aged and rural residents who engage in crude farm practices for cultivation. These kind of farming for can only favor small scale agriculture.

We need large scale agriculture in Nigeria to become food sufficient. The ban on importation is not enough to solve our problem. Let's get to the bottom of the matter!

Graduates of agricultural disciplines are in the streets looking for non existing jobs. All the knowledge acquired in school which would have been put into good use is now a waste!

This is highly under reporting, as at 2015 one bag of rice was BTW #7500 to 8500 but now it is 25000 to 28000 and one paint of gari was BTW 150 to #200 but now it is #700 etc so how is this 108% increment?

The big problems are insecurity and technology.

You cannot farm when you fear for your life.

Nor will you be able to be productive without the modern farming tools and methods.

AdeniyiA:

You're very correct, no meaningful productivity/innovation can emanate from a hungry man. A full/filled belly is a full brain. This only can be used to assess a visionary government, the state of your citizens economically. Unfortunately we do not have a government in Nigeria but set of power-seeking, visionless, Clueless, inept , self entered and corrupt politicians who only care for themselves and their family alone.

Until all Nigerians stand up to these set of rulers and say enough is enough, no matter how laudible their policies seem to be, they'd end up making Nigerians poorer. We need to take back our country!
I like your last line, no matter how laudable their policies seem it can't take Nigerians out of poverty. It's been 5 years now and Nigerians are poorer than before. African government policies only enriches the rich and further plunges the poor into more poverty.

This is what you get when you take power by force without a strategic plan at hand to deal with future unexpected outcome. the worst is yet to come. Nigeria if care is not taking will witness its own type of corona virus epidemic

Having Buhari as a president of any country should be included in one of 1000 ways to die!

I have come to realize that northeners (especially northern Moslims) puts religion ahead of reality. Even if they are dying, they wouldn't kick against their own. I could remember how thousands of Bayelsans came out en mass to protest against fuel hike during GEJ time.

If Buhari was a southerner, he wouldn't have entered the second time. because he was a monumental failure the first time. But once some politicians dangle religious card in the face of northerners, forget. They all follow sheepishly.
We always know this cause we live among them and face many persecution hence our support for GEJ during the 2015 election but our brothers from the South thought we are crazy they even went as far as drumming their support because of osibanjo.
Well, I hope they have learned the hard way.
