Alot of people dont know their place in the body of christ. What did you do about a pastor coercing people, did you report to an higher authority or you simply got angry and walked away. See, God gives us opportunities to perfect each other, some1 might be doing that based on i want to hit a target and not thinking of how the pple feel when nobody says anything to him or her. If everybody gets angry and walks away from something we can change with our prayers and reporting the matter. We need more brave pple in the body of christ, pple that can improve lives when they can perfect it. We all have our parts to play. Getting angry and abusing people will not make a different but seeking Gods face on how you can be a change to something that should be changed. Success is impacting your world with your personality, its someone becoming an addition to a person or people.

You're right, and that's why I don't do that. I certainly didn't get angry and walk away.

It's easy to give instructions on what to do about a pastor's coercion. However, where I was, the culture was of unquestioning loyalty to your pastor and this was supported right to the very top. This was why the pastor was brave enough to coerce his entire leadership team.

I was the one in the midst of it all and you'll just have to take my word for it, there were no internal mechanisms for reporting to any higher authority.

If you see former members of certain ministries coming out to air their views on forums like Nairaland, it is for that precise reason, no one gives them the time of day inside the ministry. That is why some people walk away, they find themselves getting nowhere by reporting to higher authority.

I take a deep breath here. We can change anything when we pray. I believe i can change anything thats my mentality, so i talk less and pray more.
God is depending on us, if a man can notice a mistake he can also correct that mistake, the ability is given.

I  don't  know  the  church  you  attend  but  I've  passed  by  churches  during  their  services  and    see  the  big  and  flashy  cars  parked,  I've  also  seen  the  houses  some  members  live  in  and  its  nothing  compared  to  what  their  pastors  live  in.
This  is  just  lack  consciousness  you  exhibit  and  you'll  continue  to  remain  poor  if  you  keep  up  with  this  mindset  of  yours

And thus is revealed the covetousness that blinds these ones to the true gospel. . .for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

and do think the church is the wrong place for it to be mentioned resident otherthan the bank and your pocket, oh ignorant and foolishly wrong you are. You think this gospel is for only those who frustrated and who don't have "global impact" at heart, well if you must know the gospel is free but not in anyway cheap. If we sell you and all you have both struggled to amass and those inherited l wonder if it can sponsor a satellite or sustain a 24/7 web service, perhaps it can care for tv slots on television station in morethan 77 countries.

Except you and all those who have are signed on same page with you are suggesting in your intelligence that the gospel of Christ Jesus does not deserve such publicity because they are exclusive preserves for pornographic messages, violence and terrorism courses.

please state your standPocket

The replies from those defending the prosperity gospel give me very much cause for concern because love is somewhat missing in their equation.

@Defenders of prosperity gospel

What you guys are advocating is that if you live good and give 10% of your income to charlatans - then you are guaranteed good health & riches. In that case why do people that go to your churches share the same life expectancy & poverty levels as the rest of the population ? Why ? Are your church members not following their leaders teachings ?

When you start showing me cases of drivers, domestic staff etc becoming millionaires after attending your churches - then we can talk.

Until then, keep fooling yourselves.

no wrong as usual
Living good is not a prerequisite for abundance
It's having the life of christ that caused this a d more to abound to you
The life of christ supersedes any thing you can think of
It is not a life of poverty sickness disease e. T. C

Being morally sound is definitely not being born again
To be born again is to believe in your heart the lord Jesus and confess his lordship over your life

No 1, you have to pay 10% of your income to have that life of Christ?

No 2, how has having that life of Christ made you life better than those that do not have this life of Christ?

1. Read the bible if you have one
Romans 10:9-10

2. Oh my god !
What a question ,
Answer is I am like my father, so check out his characteristics and then you ll see the difference

I don't believe in the Bible, so you can not use the Bible to convince me. Try again and this time use visible facts and/or solid logic.

Any pastor hankering on tithes and firstfruit is a thief and should be treated like a leper. Tithe is old testament injuction and not essential in New testament dispensation which is about grace. God does not work by legal injuctions. If your pastor must insist on tithe, ask him about Deutronomy 14: 22- 28
22 Put on one side a tenth of all the increase of your seed, produced year by year.

23 And make a feast before the Lord your God, in the place which is to be marked out, where his name will be for ever, of the tenth part of your grain and your wine and your oil, and the first births of your herds and your flocks; so that you may have the fear of the Lord your God in your hearts at all times.

24 And if the way is so long that you are not able to take these things to the place marked out by the Lord your God for his name, when he has given you his blessing, because it is far away from you;

25 Then let these things be exchanged for money, and, taking the money in your hand, go to the place marked out by the Lord your God for himself;

26 And with the money get whatever you have a desire for, oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your soul's desire may be: and make a feast there before the Lord your God, and be glad, you and all your house;
Deut 14:22-26 (BBE)

In the Good News version, that stong drink is BEER.

As to the firstfruit, such pastor should perform the follow up rituals of waving two lambs over his head.

If they insist that it is old testament that is not necessary, the all old testament injuction for collecting money shoud be ignored. Up till today, Jews dont eat pork/pig, but Christians are eager to eat pig, catfish, obokun which are forbidden by God.

Read your bible and be logical, that is why Jesus was despised. DO NOT BE GULLIBLE Christians as we have been called to life of freedom.
