So my colleagues and I were on night shift when a little boy was rushed in. Apparently, the boy had been sick and throwing up for days before the parents and grandma brought him to the hospital. The boy was in a critical condition, so the doctor and nurse decided to stabilize him first then refer him to another hospital. Some few minutes later, his grandma ran down to the ground floor to ask us where her grandson was. We told her we hadn't seen him. The woman kept insisting her grandson just descended the staircase and she saw him. My friend told her the boy is upstairs in the children's ward, how on earth can he be downstairs. She went outside to check, still not convinced. She came back inside, looked around and went back up. Some few minutes later the boy was dead. Oh boy, come see the way fear catch us. It was crazy and scary

I was just passing by when i heard screams, so out of curiosity i went to the window where the sound came from, the curtain was there but wasn't closed properly. I peeped and saw a woman giving birth, then from nowhere i received a knock on my head.

Lol i remember years back when i was ill, I went to the hospital.

My body was so hot and the doctor recommended i take a cold shower before proceeding with treatment.

A Nurse escorted me to the shower as i was taking my bath the Nurse took off her clothes and joined me in the shower was kissing me and rubbing my diick.

I was so weak I was just looking at her(was in my teens then really didn't even understand what she was doing then), when she noticed I was not responding to her touches she then left me alone.

100% true life story happened to me in teens as people are already quoting me as lair.

I went to a hospital after getting some infection and the nurse asked me to remove my boxers for examination and I was like madam which way now (in my mind) while still thinking of what to do she just shouted Oga remove this thing because I no sabi wetin you carry wey you dey hide (all these rude nurse things) then I just vexed removed it with annoyance.....na so she come dey turn and right and left saying so na all be this.......the only Bleep up be say the thing come obey the law of natures, ahhhhh I tried not to fall my hand make the thing sleep back but the more I tried na the harder he become oooooo, ooohhhh boy na so the bad mouth nurse say abeg no come infect me oooooooo......me no dey do infected things ......chai I want die of shame and promised to flog the thing when I get home but on getting home I met amaka waiting for me but my thing no even pretend to stand all through she was with me......I can't forget those two experiences.

A grandmother saw her grandson who was critically ill and was supposed to be in bed in the children's ward go downstairs. While the parents, doctor and nurse were with the boy, the grandmother took a sample to the lab to be tested. As she came out of the lab, she saw the sick boy descending the stairs. The lab and children's ward are all on the first floor. That was when she ran down to come ask us if we had seen the boy. We all said we we hadn't seen him, which was true. Not satisfied with our answer, she went outside to look, came back inside to look again. Strangely enough, the boy was still in bed in the ward the whole time. It was after she went back to ward that we had wailing some few minutes later. Normally, when we hear crying and wailing we know the patient is dead. And truly the boy was dead. Most people I spoke to about this incident said it's the boy's spirit the grandma saw. Just like some nairalanders have also pointed out the same thing. That incident will forever remain a mystery to me. Hope it's clear now. I was trying not to make the post lengthy that's why I left some things out.

The best thing for a well thinking healthcare professional to do is to leave Nigeria. Cos most of these Nigerian patients no get chill, Chai....some patients too dey get scoin scoin for head. And most times they forget health workers are human like them .

Mind you, I know there are some bad eggs.

One crazy thing I've seen , a patent was rushed on account of collapsing after fighting with a neighbour. Her peeps with all the pleading didn't drop any shilling before commencement of treatment. We all rallied to revive her, she became conscious, and was receiving treatment.
Ngbanu, time to collect money, make deposit o. Everybody shift,until a man who identified himself as husband Abi Na husband friend/ brother came to question the deposit bill. Trust Yorubas ( sorry for the stereotype) Na so abuse and insult follow, almost beat me join, I kukuma shift. Doctor came to know whatsup, and it almost went violent. Las Las they carried on the revived woman without paying a dime. Nothing.
Now do you get why paying before treatment can be implemented in a setting??
Healthcare workers are human, you probably won't do better.

Lol not that much. But you get to see and hear things when u work in a hospital. The most heartbreaking ones are children abused physically and sexually and watching some of them die from the abuse.

I remember being admitted in a ward. A nurse came in with a lady and a guy who I think was her bf. The nurse did a make believe drip for the lady and the guy took pictures of the lady in bed. I was beyond shocked.

From what I could gather, she was calling in to work sick and sent her boss those pictures.

It was 2010 in Daura Katsina State . Went to the general hospital to treat a suspected malaria/typhoid. While waiting on the queue to see the doctor, some family were before me on queue with their sick daughter of about 6 yrs. Suddenly the dad who was carrying the girl on his laps asked the mum to give him water. He sprinkled some on the sick girl's face and used his Palm to wipe it downwards, closing the girl's eyes then used the girls wrapper to cover her up. He murmured a word of prayer and quietly stood up, carried the girl on his shoulder and started walking away. The girl was dead. The mum got the message, gave a loud cry, threw herself to the ground and was just rolling back and forth wailing. Some sympathizers went to help her. I was so shocked. A human just died in my presence. Took me like a minute to regain myself. I just quickly left the place with the little strength left in me. I was simply frozen. Didn't want to see any doctor again. I just felt not sick anymore. It's one memory that somehow keeps coming to my mind anytime I visit a hospital.

I'm positive it was. I wouldn't say I was scared because I was still trying to believe what I just saw. The man's brother was hunched over the man with an anointing oil his Alfa gave him and he was praying for the man to wake up while at the same time, his spirit passed right by my window side. It was scary but I wasn't scared. I was just curious. If you were in my shoes what woulda been your reaction?

Except when one mumu nurse almost pierce all my hand in the quest for vain to draw blood...telling me that my vain are too tiny like that of a woman...that they can't get my vain....na so this nurse begin shook me from different places o..i almost die that day...even when she still tie my hand still she nor get my vain..

The second experience na when we carry one of my cousins to hospital for whether na hyenia operation(surgery)
I nor know wetin those doctors and nurses give my cousin...na so him begin dey talk rubbish and all he secret dey come out that day....

Thank God for almost my 37 years in life I have not been admitted hospital bed, but I do visit hospital for one reason or to exhaust my office HMO, I think the worst experience I had was when I went to FMC bida and the young doctor told me that he doesn't know the drugs that he can prescribe for my illness but I should go home and pray to God for my healing

Most nurses are like that, especially those in private hospitals. I've had a handful of experience with them. The only group I noticed are quite decent are Pediatricians.

During an administration in a private hospital I witness 3 shocking incidents but the weirdest of them was:
During the nite when everyone has gone to sleep a vulture was found inside the doctors office that has been lock and on top of patient fies. The nurse that went to check before going to sleep raised an alarm all the men gathered and killed the vulture after a long race and it was later burnt to death. Funny thing is the vulture continue to use his feather to cover his head till his death and they exhausted 10 liters of fuel before it could be burnt to ashes. Later the nurses went to check the file it stood on it was a lady that has had an operation that has refused to heal and becoming rotten. In the morning her church members came to pray with her.
