OK So let's share - I believe in uplifting the race - especially women of color No bashing of Nigerian Women is going to come from me As an African American Woman - I was unaware that many AA women wear hair nets to sleep - I didn't because my mom is half-caste - half white/half black and she wasn't taught to wear a hairnet But my AA female friends showed me how to preserve my hair at night so the pillow doesn't break the ends of the hair which will prevent growth evenly. After a few nights - I noticed too that the cap would retain a smell - so I actually wash it - handwash it in the morning every other day and let it air dry - because I want my hair to smell good and if the silk cap has an odor - that will permeate the hair and I am conscious of my appearance it only takes a few minutes to soak in warm soapy water in the morning - rinse and hang to dry so when evening comes - I can sleep with it. Also - I wash my hair once a week in freezing weather and twice a week during summer weather - the oil buildup and sweat is the reason for the smell in the hair cap. I oil my hairline twice a day - and the very tips/ends of my hair - I oil twice a day. Hope that has been a bit helpful Ladies do you have any tips I can use? |
