This is a general banking procedure in most countries nah....... Why issue or agree to a mandate and not ensure you have adequate funds, when funds are called....... 4 Likes 1 Share |

Honestly, CBN has run mad under this demon called Godwin Emefiele. Are banks penalized immediately and required to pay customers for failed transactions caused by them? No! This useless CBN gave them deadline to reverse funds before they are penalized. Sometimes they exceed the deadline and get away with it. But to debit customers account for frivolous excuses dey hungry dem. Bloody corporate thieves! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Globad:From your submission and OP, commonsense dictates that there be provision for checking of balance that will cost free. I should have a way of checking my account balance before transaction to avoid incurring such erroneous charge. Someone whose account has been compromised may not realize there too low balance. 1 Like |

Sarmiz24: The charges were imposed following a CBN directive earlier this year that directed banks to penalise customers who initiate direct debit transactions on their account but lack funds to complete the transaction. If there’s no money at the time of the failed transaction, the charge will be withdrawn from the account whenever it is funded, IBTC said. I believe it's short enough for you to read. |

Big Tech companies in Nigeria will receive this hit, especially with they get their monthly charges (eg AWS), we told Nigerians, stop supporting Buhari, they refused, Buhari might be the Antichrist |
Re: Banks Charge Customers For Failed Transactions by INTEGRITYA1(m): 4:10pm On Nov 20, 2020 |
The policy is for "Standing Order" transactions. Is not for every failed transactions as many people misinterpreted it. Like if you instruct your bank to debit from your account to make third party transaction on your behalf, let said every 25th of every month; your bank should make payment of 50k to so so account. Make sure before 25th your account is credited to effect the transaction, if not you will be charged if bank should try that transaction as been instructed and failed due to lack of fund in your account. 3 Likes |
