semid4lyfe: @semid4lyfe There's nothing wrong in watching old films. @Vieira I managed to watch 2001 to the very end. Too slow paced if you ask me. @topic THE LINCOLN LAWYER (2011) |

@Ogaga4Luv Funny enough, Citizen Kane and 2001 have massive critical acclaims. Lots of positive reviews. I like your smileys. |

Too long, too dark, too talky, too arty. Orson Welles was a ponderous, overrated bore, the cinematic equivalent of William Faulkner Thank you Obinna5000 of Nairaland. . . I prefer using my smileys most of the time than using the Nairaland smileys . obinna5000: |

American History X American History X will go down in my memory as one of the best dramatic films ever. It pulled no punches, dealing with racism in its most extreme, violent form, illustrating well how destructive bigotry can be to those unwillingly exposed to its venom and hatred. Undoubtedly the star and shining light of this film was Edward Norton, who finally broke through into the elite of Hollywood, where he fully deserves to be. His portrayal of Derek Vineyard was flawless, hardened bigot one moment, reformed and remorseful killer the next. No doubt that in any other year he would have walked off with Best Actor, his performance was breathtaking. Ed Furlong also delivered a really top performance, as the younger impressionable Danny, delivering his best performance since Terminator 2. Gritty and harsh, this film will live in my memory for a long time to come, not only for the shocking nature of it, but for the best dramatic performance by an actor in a long time. 9 out of 10. |

Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the best horror films ever and of course its one of the best films from the master of horror Wes Craven. One of the best things about the movie is the introduction of one of the best slasher killers ever Freddy Krueger! This is one of the best slasher films ever because they didn't make it about a person who turns out to be super human and kills on a vengeful day for them or on a holiday. It was just a cool psychological aspect to kill and torment his victims which makes the film so thrilling and brilliant. So if you have not seen this classic, man your missing out its a really good film so go see it. 9.3 out of 10 stars obinna5000: |

North by Northwest Non-stop suspense, action and humour. I gave this a 9 out of 10. Cary is at his best here and should have had an Oscar (hard to believe that that particular year it went to one note Charlton Heston!). I would have loved to have seen Grace Kelly portray the Kendall role, she would have delivered the ice Eve Marie Saint tried and did not quite succeed in pulling off. All the support bits are great - I recognise so many stock players from this movie. James Mason is great and also Martin Landau in his first role. Quite daring for 1959 in its implied sexuality - though I understand that one of Eve's lines on the train was dubbed over as being too risque - she apparently says "I never make love on an empty stomach" and that is dubbed to "I don't discuss making love. . . . " one for the trivia books. Up there with "Rear Window" as my favourite Hitchcocks . |

Very disturbed film of a cop behaving badly, I mean as bad as it can get! Cage for once in recent memory in a decent film. For you moral types, this movies message may upset you, as bad behaviour is actually rewarded! Eva Mendes is as hot as usual. 6/10 |

This is Hitchcock's best film – quite an accomplishment, considering how many great films he created. And after half a century, "North By Northwest" holds up beautifully. This film has it all: suspense, glamour, humor, and images that capture the imagination and remain etched in memory. obinna5000: |
