This means Rivers State has no business with poverty. Every local government,in rivers should be beautiful and impressive. There shouldn't be any pothole or bad road portion at all.

Is that the way it is in Lagos?!!...

Still wondering how Lagos is lagging so far behind Rivers!!! Sanwo-olu needs to be queried.

Op, your list is wrong, this is the main lists;
We prepared for you the list of the top 21 richest states in Nigeria that play an important role in the country’s economy and development. Nigeria is a sub-Saharan African country blessed with natural resources. It is an independent country that has 36 flourishing states, and Crude oil has long been Nigeria’s primary source of foreign exchange and governmental revenues. Nigeria remains the largest oil producer of Africa and the 12th biggest oil producer of the world.

This article is about the top twenty-one most prosperous states in the area of Nigeria. Also, it should be noted that these regions are independent and can survive on their own without the help of the federal government, as the source of their wealth is from sectors like tourism, sports, agriculture, etc. As a result, one cannot expect these states to be poor or having insufficient wealth like many third-world counties. Let’s start from the top with the Lagos region according to GDP and wealth.

Table of Contents

1. Lagos State ($33.68 Billion)
2. Rivers State ($21.17 Billion)
3. Delta state ($ 16.75 billion)
4. Oyo state ($16.12 billion)
5. Imo State ($14.21 billion)
6. Kano state ($12.39 billion)
7. Edo state ($11.89 billion)
8. Akwa Ibom region ($11 billion)
9. Ogun state ($11 billion)
10. Kaduna state ($10.33 billion)
11. Cross River state ($9.29 billion)
12 Abia state ($8.68 billion)
13. Ondo region ($8.41 billion)
14. Osun state ($7.28 billion)
15. Benue region ($6.86 Billion)
16. Anambra State ($6.76 Billion)
17. Katsina State ($5.99 billion)
18. Niger State ($6 Billion)
19. Borno State ($5.18 Billion)
20. Plateau State ($5.15 Billion)
Bonus: Sokoto State ($4.82 Billion)

Re: 10 Richest States In Nigeria Based On Internally Generated Revenues by sukieboy(f): 9:06pm On Dec 17, 2020
This is what we have always told Lagos people. Most Igbos have moved the HQ of their businesses to Enugu by books and most of the taxes are now remitted to Enugu state. Akwa Ibom has a large ExxonMobil operations in QIT, so about 85% of ExxonMobil upstream operations PIT goes to Akwa Ibom. If the banks mostly owned by SS/SE should move out of Lagos, its over.

Aba and Anambra planning major wholesale and Import markets and The Nollywood studies have all moved to Enugu and Owerri while Yoruba movies have moved to Ibadan and Abeokuta.

Lagos is not seeing this yet, soon they will be chasing people in traffic to come pay road use tax.

How TF is benue on that list? Benue state in general is a completely useless state as big as the state is half of their people have already ran to south west due to the high rate of poverty and insecurity in that state.. the town where I live the Yorubas are competing with benue people in population.ijebu ode to be precise

You're right half of all the Igede & Tiv are all over the southwest hiring themselves out as farmhands & housemaids, in a bid to escape the crushing poverty and herdsmen oppression/insecurity in their homeland

Kaduna, zamfara is the only core northern state there and it's laughable because when it comes to fg giving state handout and freebies north always occupy 7/10 of the top spots

This is H1 IGR stat for 2020 below.

Can you see the figure for Lagos? That’s 204 billion.

Now the Year on Year the OP posted showed just 16billion for Qtr 4 for lagos. If you really pay attention to details you will understand that what the OP meant is Year-on-Year figure.

Even if you say Covid is the reason for the drop in figure, that’s *10 decrease in just two quarter.
You just dey educate that one for free.

It's like they didn't see "Year-on-Year Most Improved".

having zamfara there sef is suspect in its own.

Not to talk of rivers making highest internally revenue than Almighty Lagos.

Kaduna is even supposedly just "a little" off Lagos in revenue which is a suspicious

If you want to knw d capacity of River state just remove d crude oil then you will see where they belong to in terms of economy development

Facts:

• Rivers didnt overtake Lagos in igr generated
• Akwa Ibom isn't ranked 5 in igr igr generated.
• Q4 2020 isnt over so those that aren't available yet.
.. The report almost first confused me too. How can Rivers over take Lagos in igr?.. I m not sure any state ve the capacity yet to over take Lagos in igr in the next 20yrs..what Lagos made in land use charge alone pass the total igr of many states and they also ve the best structure in place for efficient tax collection.

IGR is revenue gotten from taxing a people.

These states are states that tax their citizens the most.

This is not a measure of growth.

GDP on the other hand is money gotten from goods/services sold..it’s a better measure of development owing to the fact more businesses/more money.

Lagos state comes mind. soon they will tax on air we breath
