FG Increases Electricity Tariff By 50%

NERC Nigeria @NERCNG

1. PUBLIC NOTICE ON PURPORTED 50% INCREASE IN ELECTRICITY TARIFFS The attention of the Commission has been drawn to publications in the print and electronic media misinforming electricity consumers that the Commission has approved a 50% increase in electricity tariffs.

2. The Commission hereby state unequivocally that NO approval has been granted for a 50% tariff increase in the Tariff Order for electricity distribution companies which took effect on January 1, 2021.

3. On the contrary, the tariff for customers on service bands D & E (customers being served less than an average of 12hrs of supply per day over a period of one month) remains frozen and subsidised in line with the policy direction of the FG.

4. In compliance with the provisions of the EPSR Act and the nation’s tariff methodology for biannual minor review, the rates for service bands A, B, C, D and E have been adjusted by NGN2.00 to NGN4.00 per kWhr to reflect the partial impact of inflation & movement in forex.

5. In the light of strong public interest on this matter, the media is hereby requested to retract their earlier publications misinforming electricity consumers nationwide about a purported 50% increase in electricity tariffs.

6. The Commission remains committed to protecting electricity consumers from failure to deliver on committed service levels under the service-based tariff regime.

7. Any customer that has been impacted by any rate increases beyond the above provision of the tariff Order should report to the Commission at customer.complaints@nerc.gov.ng

Buhari government should better kill the poor all In this country and live only his federal executive members....nigerians are extremely suffering with zero basis amenities, contemplating increase in tariff without an increase in supply is satanic .

They are indirectly telling us to be prepared cos very soon the tariff will be increased, no smoke without fire. Does these people even have blood flowing in their veins? Do they feel the pulse of the common man?
They have doctored the prepaid metre units in such a way that you end up spending more on it than the previous billing/post paid method. Average family will end up recharging 15k or more per month for light that's even less than 10 hours a day. What a callous and devilish government!!

Don’t blame the government, blame the masses that swallows everything thrown to them by the crooks in power. Restructure Nigeria or break it now.

Don't act surprised, this country has been on autopilot for a while now.

If you still think PMB is in charge of this country, you need to get your brain checked or kukuma change it.

Thank you Mr President, our precious darling daddy for being considerate and always being there for we the masses, So passionate about the masses just like his cows. I now enjoy 20 hours light daily for far lesser amount. I just cant imagine how this country would have been without you.
Even if the tariff is increased by 100%, I will still vote you again and again unless i chose to have sense.
