Nigerians were not complaining cos the entire border was opened, goods n services were just entering the country.
Infact those days garri was costlier than rice or beans cos garri was processed locally, while bulk of the rice we ate was imported.
The population of the country as at then wasnt high compate to what we have now. We didnt have insecurity then as we have now, libya was still peaceful....

The truth is is if we had the level of growth we have now in terms of commerce and industries way back during abacha's regime Nigerians would have enjoyed more back then, the problem is Nigerian did not grow economically with the speed of it's population, if we were the size of britain in terms of population as at now with what we have people will not be complaining, in 1960 Nigeria and Britain were dragging in population size, compare the economical growth of Britain to Nigeria since 1960 and compare it with the population then also match that with the system of governance of both with visionless leaders and excessive looting, then you will know why Nigeria is where it is today, there are so many factors affecting Nigeria today, abacha's regime only curbed some of the factors which made it better than all successive regimes, size of governance then restricting the looting a bit to a few...

If you looked at the OBJ COAS all of them are from the minorities because he believed that even if they wanted to overthrow his govt they not get the support of the majority.
BafanaBafana:
Obj changed his service chiefs every 2 years, he appointed both northerners and southerners as COAS, he never appointed any Muslim to the position.
Yaradua had only 2 COAS, all northerners, one Christian, the other one Muslim.
GEJ made his appointment of COAS from his constituency, south east and south south, all Christians.
Buhari also picked his COAS from his constituency, north west and north east

Abacha didnt do anything, the only thing he did was looting, maiming, killing, destroying, jailing politicians who seek a peaceful transition.
In cross river n akwaibom u will see babangida projects, no projects attributed to abacha.
Dont know of other states.
What policies dis his govt made to ensure economical stability?
His govt was just like a barcelona club being handed to another coach with all the players that won the league, champions league etc.

If south east is not Jonathan’s constituency, is north east Buhari’s constituency?

Obasanjo still remains the best President Nigeria ever had,,,, he ran a Government for Nigerians not for the west

He ran a government for the west not Nigeria!
He is the worst because without him we won't have this disaster called Buhari. He acted like a thug instead of acting like a father. He placed his personal interest above the country's interest.

He laid the foundation for most of the extra judicial killings we witness today.

You were probably born in 1999, if you are much older you should know how evil, vengeful and divisive Obasanjo is.

Inflation does not necessarily mean an economy is bad. In fact, it may be good if at a healthy and stable level. Now, the fact people could buy a lot with 100 naira then does not mean people were earning 30k as the minimum wage or earned as much today. recall the minimum wage was much lower, at about 3k. Nigeria's exports were not competitive either.

Economic data remains important.

Minimum wage during abacha's time was 3000 naira, dollar exchange to naira was N21.89k, 3000/21.89 = $137 minimum wage and the government was not owing and it was easy to pay, fast forward to 2020 mimimum wage 30,000, dollar to naira, dollar to naira N500, 30,000/500 = $60, and most state governments are not still paying up to that, also most are even owing the old minimum wage of 18,000, ask your self if you would prefer $137 with ease or $60 that you are not even sure of...

Jonathan era started 2009
How come you didn't capture when dambazzau worked with him

Yar adua died 2009 but you said dambazzau worked with him till 2010 just because you want to deny Jonathan the credit

These are some of the things that people are complaining of South West media
They are always streamlining it to remove other people's credit and to give undue credit to themselves

this is not by projects, buhari is buiding railway and doing other big projects even the Niger bridge, I mean projects that previous governments could not do, but people are crying of hunger suffering and unemployment, so after buhari leaves power you will rate him better than OBJ because of that, while OBJ was able to clear off Nigeria's debt of around 35 billion dollars or so if I can remember now.... so it's not about the projects, In Nigeria most leaders use projects to deceive people, you might have lesser projects with very good economic policies that will make people prosper and have bad economic policies with huge projects that will make people suffer...

Buhari also worked with the service chiefs he inherited for like a m or two also before appointing his own chiefs, so in the Nigerian context it's a normal thing, you work with the people you feel most comfortable with especially when it comes to security

a very big lie, Abacha's government was economically better than all the governments in Nigeria since 1999, he was a thief yes but looting was restricted to only a few of his clicks, unlike what we have today, he was a tyrant yes, but he only terrorised politician and big men who stepped on his toes, he had no business with the masses, lastly it was a heavily militarized government which had soldiers everywhere doing the work of police too, but economically Nigeria was better...
