well ur market determine how u raise ur broilers, are u selling live wt. or kilo wt. whichever one it is u dont need any fattener bc it adds to cost of prodx with little or no added value. if ur birds are well fed i.e feeding ad libitum with regular supply of water, they will do well insha Allah. avoid switching from one feed to another, if vital stay with vital till slaughter, if amo stay wt amo till slaughter. ogas in the house more contributions pls.

your are absolutely right.

ok thanks boss will add it to their top feed
more PKC will have negative effect on consumption. PKC in broiler feeds shd not be more than 10%.

With the prevailing weather 17kg.
: 18Max.
given the right environment laying birds will consume 110grammes per day but the situation in Nigeria, 100g is a pass mark.

I have some birds that will be 14weeks by friday. The growth is not uniform. We want to sort them and give the smaller ones broiler starter to see if they will come up.

I hope this works.

Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Rzq4: 8:43pm On Apr 17, 2015
overcrowding could have caused that. isolating the runts is a good idea. keep feeding them on growers mash. give them probiotics and vitamins. they will catch up with the others in no time. u should have discovered this earlier on
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Rzq4: 8:46pm On Apr 17, 2015
embacin forte is a coccidiostat. its not antibiotics( ineffective against bacteria). same as kepcox and coccifor

Hello Great Farmers,

I started following this thread early this year and has learnt a lot! Also drawn inspiration to pursue something I have always wanted to do.

I would tell my story so far in pics.

Acquisition and clearing of land. it was really more of a forest.

Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by segun1976: 8:52pm On Apr 18, 2015
The story continues ..........

The land is for our "trial farm" as our mission is to develop into "technology-driven integrated farm". its a one acre land.

We started developing a poultry farm.

Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by segun1976: 9:02pm On Apr 18, 2015
The poultry pen is a 120ft by 30ft, planned to house about 3,000 layers.

The poultry costs is around N2m ( I think its on the high side), but its all a learning process! We could have been efficient in the use of resources. The pen was built using metal poles (not the usual wood), granite (not gravel as commonly done), we used a concrete mixer, etc.

The pen would be more durable, but cost?

The floor was done in a full day.

Challenges with the omo-onile as usual to collect one levy or the other. The concrete mixer broke down, rain came down ......, but we remain undaunted.

We arranged for 34 units of locally fabricated cages. These are 96-bird capacity cages. Our "fabricator did a good job (in my assessment) and was through in 3 weeks 2 days.
